Sorry about the double post...

I'm looking at getting a 08 MDX tech/ent. So far this is what I have from the dealer. I'm in Florida if it matters.

Invoice & Destination: $42,398.00
My Price (Car & Destination): $43,400.00
Delivery: $375 (the car will be flat bedded from another dealer. Maybe 150 miles away)
Dealer fee: None
My total: 43,775 (excluding T/T/L)

Thats $1002 ($1377 if you include the shipping) over invoice when you add it all up. How does that sound? Weird thing is, the dealer was saying that's only $700 over invoice. Is there a mandatory ad fee or something in FL? I seem to remember a dealer telling me that. If so that would make about $700 then.

Is the dealer holdback profit also? I've heard many different things on that... I mean that's another $1377. Does the salesman not see any of that?

What should I do? Take it at that price or should I try and get them down a bit lower?

Acura has a holdback of 3% of base MSRP. That said, a $1K profit on a $43K vehicle is still a good deal, regardless of holdback.

You will find some folks that have gone to the mat for a few more bucks off, but I would be happy at the price you negotiated.

Congrats on the new MDX!

There was a recent thread where the dealer holdbacks per model were posted. Basically the holdback was 3.35% of MSRP. This is additional profit to the dealer.

Do not know what the dealer's arrangement with the salesmen is concerning his commission.

Advertising: this is something dealers will always try to throw in. It is no different than electricity, heating, ac, etc. I hope you get the point. This is overhead plain and simple.

I have bought cars that came from another dealer and was never charged as you are $375. Dealers frequently swap cars.

Personally, I would not be concerned about an additional 150 miles and certainly would not pay $375 to avoid those miles.

So your bottom line is this a good deal or not? Only you can decide. Here at this forum we give you information to best arm you in deciding.

Good Luck.

It's a fair price since you are getting something they don't have.

I believe the new invoice price went up for another $350 (was told by several dealers in my area (SF Bay)), if the car is built after 2007.

I was able to buy one for 1100 below invoice. But, it is the one on the lot. I got two dealers to match the price, but I have to drive for 60 miles to get the one with the color combination we want.

As per www.Kbb.com $42,398 is correct.
