I have a 2003 with factory navi and RES, and I have lately had problems playing any DVD's burned on my home machines. I used to be able to record kids shows from Disney, PBS Sprout, etc, on either a DVD-R or DVD+R without any problems. Now the factory DVD will only play factory pre-recorded DVD's.
Anyone know how to fix this problem? Anyone with similar problem?
Did you have to replace the DVD player, and if so, how much does an aftermarket player run that will fit within the same space.
Thanks for any suggestions!! |

What type of brand of DVDs are you using. Not rewritable one, I hope. |

| Could be the program you're using is compressing the files too hard. I've used Roxio, and it works fine. |

What version of Roxio and what brand and what kind of DVD's do you use?
I am trying to decide if I should purchase the new ROXIO...I have V5, but thought it was the cause of my computer now shutting down correctly, so I took it off...
Also, why ROXIO instead of NERO?
I am currently using Itunes and you should hear the announcement of the songs........08-name of tune-underscore....So you can see I would like to get away from itunes.......
Help will greatly be appreciated........
Thank you very much. |

Thanks for the posts!
I'm using name brand media like TY DVD-R and Imation DVD+R. The funny thing is that DVD's that I used to be able to play keep up coming up disk error. But when I insert a factory recorded DVD, they play without any problems. Never have used re-recordable media.
I even tried burning a disc, finalizing, and then taking straight to vehicle without any scratches/smears whatsoever and still got the disc error message.
It's like something has changed in the player's ability to read home recorded media. Also I'm using a Sony DVD recorder and a Panasonic ES20 recorder. Discs recorded on either used to play, but no longer.

Announcement of songs? Can you expand on that? I use iTunes and I'm not sure of the issue you are experiencing. |

I have the Audio Button selected and the 6 disc show on the Navigation Screen Display.......Then I press the selector wheel on the disc I would like to play, then I press the selector wheel again and the list of tunes display......When I select the tune I would like to hear, "the voice" tells me, 08, the name of the tune, then underscore. After hearing this numerous times, I beleive it's the eighth tune, song title, (then underscore) _.mp3........
Also, I am experiencing not all of the tunes in the playlist are being copied to the DVD..........
I've got some problems going on and sure wish I could correct them, but how?
Again, help would be greatly appreciated. |

Hmmmm, well our MDX doesn't speak the songs at all to us, so I've never experienced the issue. You must have a feature turned on that I do not. |

This won't help much with existing DVD's but you can improve the compatibility of your burned discs by bit-setting the writer to burn your disc as a DVD-ROM. It only works on +R discs.
Essentially it fools your DVD player into seeing the +R disc as a book type DVD-ROM, the native format of the DVD.
If you have Nero it's a piece of cake to make the change.
You can get a full explanation and instructions by reading this thread http://forum.digital-digest.com/sho...&threadid=46559 |
