So I theoretically bought a MDX the other day (signed off on price and put down a deposit). My dealer didn't have the color combo with the packages I wanted so they said they'd do a locate and have within a couple of days because they new there were a few available around the area.
Well, it's been a few days now and they are still trying to get the car. Apparently the dealer that has it isn't responding well to the idea of trading cars with my dealer. What do I do? Just wait for them to work it out? I'm not interested in changing my color combo.
Any thoughts? |

I went through the same thing few months ago. It took the dealer more than a month to locate the color/options combo we wanted. The other dealer who had the right combo didn't want to trade. Fortunately we weren't in a hurry to get the MDX.
Good luck. |

| I was told 3-5 business days to locate my color combo (Steel Blue/Taupe) and it was at the dealer for pickup in 4 days. YMMV. |

| Just talked to the dealer. They said they cannot get the car for me. The one dealer (within their trading radius) that has the color combo left isn't willing to trade with them. What do I do now? I don't want another color combo so do I try going elsewhere? I know where the car is, but it's about 7 hrs from me. I'm not really interested in going that far myself. Any ideas? |

do you really need it now? some more waiting and patience could pay dividends.
also, maybe you can wiggle in some more discounts because of the wait. if not tell them you're going to another dealer instead. you can even tell that you're going to the other dealer who has the mdx you want. |

Something similar happened to us, although it was that our dealer COULD get our colour combo but wouldn't budge much on the price and if we went directly to the dealer that had the colour, we would save $1500. So, for the $1500, we took the kids and hopped a bus for the 7 hours ride to the other dealer, spent the long weekend in a nice hotel, did a ton of shopping at stores we don't have in our city, did a bunch of sight seeing, and had a great drive back in our new MDX.
So, we didn't buy from our stingy dealer here and we got a "free" mini vacation out of it. Worked for us, because we'd be thinking of doing this mini vacation anyway. |

well, I'm going to walk away from the deal I had with this dealer. They were actually holding my trade for collateral, so I'll go pick it up tomorrow.
Is it worth talking to another close dealer to see if they can get car for me? I was wondering maybe this first dealer had a bad relationship w/ the dealer that has the car. I suppose the other alternative is that I just have this dealer order the car, though they don't seem to interested in doing that...
I cannot really make the 7 hour trip at this point b/c my wife could be having our second son any time now... Was hoping to have the new car before that, but it looks like a long shot now.
I'm open to any thoughts or ideas... |

What color/combo package are you looking for?
All you can do is call other dealers to see if they have it in stock. When is the baby due? If that long trip is a concern you might as well just order it from the factory. |

Was trying to get Sterling/taupe in a sport/ent or 2nd choice of tech/ent but my dealer couldn't make it happen. We went back to dealer today to pick up the trade we left for collateral and looked at a silver/taupe and decided to just go ahead with that one.
We are now proud new owners of Silver/taupe tech/ent. :2: |

FWIW, I was in the same predicament but wasn't willing to budge on my color combo (Aspen White Pearl/Parchment - Tech/Ent.) We wanted to deal with a dealership in Baton Rouge (about 1 hour away) because they were really going the extra mile for us. Unfortunately, this combo was in demand...the other dealerships couldn't keep them on their lots, much less trade...
I had talked to a salesperson in Mobile (2 hrs. away) and knew that they were scheduled to get one in from the factory "in 14 days". I put a deposit down and guaranteed it wouldn't be sold out from under me...the kicker is that they delivered it to my house and I signed all of the paperwork in my kitchen. I was happy with the price and didn't have to step foot in the dealership!
Congrats on your new X!:4: |

| My husband and I are in the progress of purchasing a used 2007 Black Cherry Pearl with Black interior MDX from a dealer in Miami, FL. We have signed the paperwork and sent them the deposit along with the paperwork via FEDEX. It's been over a week and we still haven't received our MDX. The company phoned my husband and said we needed to pay our state taxes on the vehicle before they could send it. We have paid for them to have a company deliver it to us as well but to no avail, no MDX. I'm not happy and I really hope we haven't made a mistake. What I wanted to know, WHEN we do receive the MDX which is certified, will my dealer here in Baton Rouge accept it as if I purchased it from them if any problems should come up with it? I.E. navigation (which it has), engine, tire, etc... Oh! We did purchase the extended warrenty as well. |

| Yea, as long as you have a warranty, shouldnt matter where you go for the work. |

If you can strike a deal with that dealer who is 7 hours away, buy it there and get it flat-bedded toyou...he might pay or around $350 perhaps.

I paid 250 to get my flat-bedded so it would have low miles and I would get the color I wanted. |
