I bought a 2008 sport/ent MDX in Sept 07 for my second home in Fl after really studiying the competion and cost/value of the car. My wife liked it very much and wanted the same vehicle for herself in Mexico. An Acura agency just opened close to us and we went in to check out the vehicle yesterday. It only comes in the base model (no back up camera although it does come with the back up sensor which is fine sice I really don't think much of the camera). She was really disappointed that is doesn't have the big screen display for the audio or the Nav system or the satelite radio. I myself am more disappointed that it doesn't come with the sport edition. All this for just $53K. (also something that was confusing was that they say it uses regular gas). At that price I checked out the competion (MB350 similarly equiped $60K, Audi elite $61K ). These prices are due to about a 25% import tax on thre vehicles. A little disappointed that we couldn't get the same vehicle down here.

I would just have her buy the US one and drive it across the border. Though depending on the rules you might have to pay an import tax when registering the car, that's what you have to do in some other situations with US/Canada

Be aware that if you buy an MDX in America to keep it registered in America as once it is exported Acura/Honda can and usually will void the warranty.

Driving it across the border is not an option. Individual customs fees would be even higher than buying it fom the stealers down here. Just makes glad you don't have such high custom fees in the states. So no complaining on prices in the states!

The reason for NO XM and no navi is that they have no coverage at all down there, maybe a little bit by the border, but that's it.

I cannot speak for XM/Sirius radio because I do not know their satellite situation.
However, navigation (GPS) coverage is available throught the WHOLE WORLD without exception. Now the supplier used by Acura to program the DVD's may not have put in the map details for Mexico. That little detail is easily solved by buying an aftermarket GPS.

For whatever its worth, I have used my small portable XM in Mexico and it does fine even on the beach/hotels in Cabo or Cancun.
