Has anyone gotten the new disc and installed on 2007? On the owners website it says it is only for 2008, but it seems to be OK to order it. Just wondering...
rsnaider
The fall 4.62 DVD release is currently available to dealers for 2008 vehicles only. Please call 888-291-4675 to order.

Orders only from dealers will be accepted at this time.

That is the message I see, so I am not sure how you can order it. If we cannot get it, we cannot try it.....

You can just eject the disc and see for yourself as it is printed on the top fo the disc.

The DVD drive for the nav system is under your drivers seat and faces forward.

You can also go into the system settings and maintenance menus for the software version, but if you are not careful you can mess things up.

$185 plus tax and shipping.

Called the number on the website. Rep said that the original issue of 4.62 was "buggy" and pulled. Update (may be called something later than 4.62) is due out in July and should have a white label. They are not accepting pre-orders.

I just finished download 4.62 Nav Disc couple days ago and also finished burn it right now with Nero 8 with Memorex DVD+R DL. It work right after I insert it in, but i can't downgrade back to my orginal 4.56 Nav Disc.
Trigger
I just burned the 4.62 torrent that says's it's for the Acura TL. This works in the 07 MDX, when you put the disc in it will download files and update the system. I tried the dumpnavi proggy to modify the nag screen but it does not work with this navi system.

Note: First attempt with a DVD-DL+R gave disc read errors. Re-burned with a DVD-DL-R and it loaded fine.

If you want to downgrade this is how you do it. When the splash screen comes up hold down... Map/Guide, Menu, and Cancel buttons until it loads the nag screen.

This will bring you to the service menu. Goto the "Version" section, once on that screen there is a download button, click it and it will download the files of the inserted disc. That should roll you back to whatever version is in the drive.

Curious why do you want to downgrade?

I'm just afraid when I bring my car in for service, the dealer might say something. Also i'm afraid some day copy nav disc don't work properly, if it doesn't work properly i can't get the dealer to fix it because it's not the original disc.

Thanks for the infor. Did you try to downgrad it back to 4.56 yet?

Who cares what the dealer says it's your vehicle..I'm not afraid(it is Acuras disc after all 4.62 is latest for MDX) plus I think most of it is downloaded to internal memory.

I'd rather have a copied disc in there than the $200 original anyways.

have you try to downgrade it back to 4.56? I'm not afraid at the dealer, i'm just afraid in the future the copy nav disc don't work properly.

Trigger, can you confirm this procedure works? Can the 4.55A be loaded again once the 4.62 has been loaded?

No i didn't try to downgrade..I just upgraded an hour ago :) Gotta try it out. It'll work..don't worry so much.

There is a fail safe system(if it fails to load properly), disconnect battery reconnect put in original disc and reload.

Just upgraded my 2007, worked perfectly.

Burned the disc on my iMac.

This annoys the crap out of me as well, I think it is more of an issue with how the names are stored.

I had the same issue when I was looking for a walmart, I wasn't spelling it with the spaces/dashes the nav wanted. I doubt this would change much, though it could easily be fixed.

Ok. I burnt the image to Memorex DVD+R DL disc and inserted into the drive. I get "Disc Read Error Please contact dealer". Anyone got this error. I'm currently using 4.56a ver in my 2005 MDX.

I got the same msg when burning to a +R disc. Burn it to a -R it works perfect.

Thanks Trigger. It worked. Looks like the drive in 2005 reads only -R.

Can anyone tell me the difference between the original version that came with the 07 MDX and the new. Is it a software upgrade or just a database upgrade.

Thanks, Alan

Good on you to confirm this...although I knew it would work.

Why did you switch back? 4.62 covers Quebec no?

The 4.62 version I have is USA and Southern Canada (Only covers approx. 200 KM north of the USA Border at the most and it left alot of areas I travel to without coverage.

The 4.62 version I downloaded fron the net and I could not buy it from Alpine to upgrade and I did not find the Canadian DVD Disc Version 4.62

What media is used in the 07's?

+r or -r?

I have access to a honda 4.62 which appears to be same as Acura and want to get the right media first and not do the trial and error.

Thanks,

I burned the 4.62 iso to a Memorex DVD+R DL and the player complained it could not read the disk and to see the dealer. Some people have reported that the -R works. I have not tried it yet. Can anyone confirm that a Dual Layer +R works in the navi unit after burning the 4.62iso?

I have successfully ripped my 4.55A iso and burned that to a Memorex DVD+R DL. It works fine in the navi. I am not sure why the 4.62 will not work on the same media.

I know that there are DVD colors for different yr MDX but do they make a difference?

I mean, why can't I use the White DVD with most updates than the Black DVD for 02 MDX? Does anyone know what is the physical difference of the DVD player???

It's not a difference of the player, it's a difference of the navigation software. The newer units use different software (and updates are on the discs when they're released). The black discs only work in the players originally designed for them, and none of the other colors will work in the black players because of the software. Newer navigation units have newer features (voice command, etc) and Acura/Alpine chose to make the discs not backwards compatible.

I just bought a used 2005 MDX from a small used car dealer. I negotiated for the latest NAVI DVD and the seller said "Sure OK". My wife picked it up and didn't check to see if the NAVI was updated. It wasn't. I complained and the seller said - "Come on over - I'll give you a new DVD". I went over and he gave me a DVD+R DL (Memorex) that he got/burned from somewhere.

Went home, replaced the White DVD in the player (version 4.13c) and it updated fine (took a couple of minutes to download the new software). No diagnostic screen - no reboots - nothing. Everything seems to be working fine. (As others have noted, there's no longer an option to select between female and male voice on the setup screen).

I'm a little upset that it's a DVD+R instead of the real thing - he said he'd get me the real one later, but it hasn't come in yet. I suspect he's thinking I won't bother.

I would call him out on it, I suspect Alpine wouldn't be happy a Acura employee is handing out burned copies of their software.

Just to be clear - there was no "Acura employee" involved. I bought a used MDX from a small "general" used car lot that sells lots of cars other than Acuras.

But this dealer has told me that he has "ordered" me a real disk that is on its way. We'll see.

Does anyone know where I can purchase a PC Card for a 2005 MDX? I was told by the dealer I could buy it online but the sales rep that I bought the used 2005 MDX from told me to go into this forum because I may get a lead where I could buy the products cheaper. I also need the Navi Disk but from what you guys are writing it may be best to wait until the latest version. Just need a PC Card. Thanks for any replies in advance.

Your dealer is either the most uninformed dealer or a lying sack of...

The pc card slot was long speculated to be activated by later navi updates. Since 2001, when the first members noticed it, we speculated when it will be used, what for? Possible traffic updates. In car web browsing?

NOTHING, the long and short of it, it does nothing, do not need to look further. I've been tempted to just pop in a PCMCIA CARD in there to see what it would do, but don't feel the need if it's not enabled.

Got me, perhaps they were thinking of forward compatibility or future feature, which just was either was cost prohibitive or not feasible.

Thank You so much for your help!!! You are the best!!! I'm glad I didn't get taken for a ride. Now, it makes me think that it may be better to purchase a Garmin or TomTom instead of getting the disk. It shows on the screen that the navigation disk door is open or no disk is inserted. Now I wonder if the navi works or not.

Could you be so kind to guide me to where I can purchase an old navi disk to verify if the Navi works? Or do you think that it's not working at all which is why it was sold without a previous disk? Or is there a sample disk that you know of that will verify if the navi is working? Would an Acura dealer have one, if one existed? Thanks again.
