| Has anyone installed the hitch package or running boards by themselves. I am looking at the black running boards and they don't seem too difficult to install. I am also looking at the acura hitch package which seems really difficult and seems to involve taking off the entire rear bumper. I like the looks, but it is a lot and almost double the cost if the dealer installs it. Any help would be appreicated. |

I am planning on putting on the OEM hitch myself. The instructions have many steps but none are complicated at all. Shouldn't take more than a couple of hours.
I'm just waiting for Tim to have a sale on the hitch before getting it (maybe a monthly special soon *hint* hint*).
Running boards are a simple bolt on. I put the chrome side steps (which have the same brackets as the running boards) myself and it was perhaps the easiest accessory to install. |

| I put a Valley hitch on my MDX.I installed it myself in about an hour and it works great.I used the Valley hitch because all you see from the back is the reciver, the hitch is hidden.Do a search on this site for pictures and instructons. Joekids |

No idea about the hitch but I did install the running board myself over 1 month ago.
These are the 4th set of running boards I have installed over the past 30 years. The Acura running board are really easy to install as all the hole on the MDX are already pre-drilled and threaded.
The only thing I suggest is getting a Metric Tap to clean out the threads on the MDX before you start (This step is optional but your install will be easier as the threads will be cleaned).
It took me 2 hours working in God's Garage in 30 Deg F weather not being rushed by anything and taking cofee breaks.
You do not need to jack the MDX for the install.
Best regards from Montreal, Canada

| When you did the running bd install did you have to take off the mud guards or just put the running boards on top of the long plastic piece that runs from under the door to the bottom of the car. Thanks, and stay warm up there. |

No need to remove the mud guards.
I does install on top of the plastic piece under the doors.

I installed the running boards last week. It took me about 40 minutes (maybe less) for each side. Very easy. Here are the instsructions (which were not inside of the box).
