Is there any way to prevent the nav screen from dimming automatically when I start my car in the morning (when it is parked in the garage)? When I back out, I can't see anything on the reverse camera because of the glare from the sunlight and the dimmed screen.
I know about the button that switches the screen to the regular brightness, but I don't want to hit the button every morning.
thanks |

If your headlights are on auto and the garage is dark it might be in night mode.
Spinning the main selector dial while in reverse adjusts the camera brightness. |

| Are your headlights on auto and on when you start in the garage? The nav will dim with the headlights on. Something to check. |

Yeah they are on auto... but if I turn that off, that would defeat the point of auto headlights...
Is there a way to keep the brightness constant (even if my headlights are on)? |

Manual page 103, adjust the sensor sensitivity.

...Or, tie a spotlight into your garage door opener light socket to shine a bright beam on the top center of your dashboard where the light sensor is. |

In the settings just change the brightness setting from "Auto" to "Day" and it will stay bright regardless of your headlight settings. Of course, the problem is the screen will be too bright at night and you'll have to manually go in and change it back to "Auto" or "Night" when you drive at night. |

Or you could press the little sun/moon button :p that's on the extreme left bottom corner of the jog dial thing... that's what I do if I want it to go brighter quicker when reversing out of the garage.
It's no big deal to me to pull into reverse and press the buttton.. then back out. The only time i have to do it is backing out of the garage... i do it automatic now :p ...the X is training me instead of vice versa...rofl :) |

| Ok, maybe I am missing something, but do you really set the nav to get out of your garage every day? If it is on auto, when you get into the sun, it will change back to day time settings, probably with in a minute or so. |

| This post may also be related to the one on depending on the rearview camera too much :p ...i understand in the transition from dark to light you can't see much on the nav screen until it auto brightens but then you could also just turn around and reverse in those situations like a vehicle without backup cameras ....so there is nothing to adjust etc....just a thought. |
