Anyone had any luck trouble shooting the video output on the mdx nav display? I have tried reconnecting the connections on the back of the nav unit (which worked once before), without luck. The touchscreen will still beep ( I'ma able to turn off the air conditioning because I know where on the screen to push that button). Maybe the lcd lamp itself is dead??
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Having the same problem....Sometimes when I start up the screen goes on but than goes off. Acura wants 2500 to fix....Seems crazy.
Have you had any luck at all. |

Mine started to shut down periodically about 6 months ago, and then one day it was down for the count. I located a used display (the radio/cd changer and display are all one piece), and the dvd nav player for about $700. It should arrive in a few days. You can get the unlock codes from any acura dealer by giving them the serial number on the back of the new/used unit.
I found mine on ebay. Good luck to you. |

| I just converted my setup from non nav to nav so I know the wires that connect it all. Look at the back of the DVD rom under the passenger seat and there will be a bunch of wires coming out of it. I can't find my wiring diagram, but I'm 95% positive it was GREEN/BLACK (off to the left side. . . not the light green with a black stripe but the darker one with the black stripe). It is the back light wire and it has to be hot in ON or START. If that wire is sending the right signal, then you'll want to check the blue and green ( they'll be plugged in next to 3 color wires - yellow, red and white) wires on the display and DVD rom to make sure there is no short in those wires. That's the only 3 that have to do with the screen lighting up. The blue and green are the luminance (green) and ground (blue) for the display. If those can't solve it then you have either a defective DVD ROM or Screen. |

For me it was "monitor dead" I checked all fuses and cables to make sure they were good. I found a used one on Ebay for too much money, but I needed it.
Best of luck to you.

OK. Here's a thought for all members. If you total your MDX, go rip the whole radio/nav system out of the car, along with things like the armrest cover, rear blower unit, the center vents that still have adjustment tabs on them, cargo covers and dividers, floor mats, etc. Basically anything you can get out of the car. Do this before you give it to the insurance company. Then come on Acuramdx.org and post it all up for us to buy at a reasonable price. Sooner or later the good carma will come back to you.
I've been wondering when this is going to happen to me. Closing in on 180K miles I know some stuff is going to start going wrong. If anyone has a tan armrest cover from an '02-'06 (the '01 ones were crap), that they'll sell cheap, please let me know. |
