The Rear View camera on our 2004 MDX passed away shortly after the warranty expired. I called Acura for a repair estimate and they said the camers was $850 with installation for a total of $1040.
I told them to forget it and I continued to use the brail method ....
I visited the local RACO dealership who installed our Remote Started and after some research said that they could put in an aftermarket license plate camera for $275.
We just picked up the MDX and the camera works great !!
I expected tp pay a premium for the dealership camera, but not that kind of money. Just another readon to not use the dealership for any work other than Warranty ....

Where in Mass did you go? What is a Raco dealer? I live near burlington, ma and my camera works intermittently. Might be a loose connection but most of the time I get a grey screen in reverse.
Anybody know where I could buy a replacement camera - is it diy?
it is a 2004 mdx also

Tony, our Dead camera was intermittend for months with flickers and color problems. Then it died .....
I took it to the local Raco Dealer in Auburn. If you find a closer Raco maybe they can call Auburn and get the short cut. Have them speak to Scott,

Ouch! Our backup camera on our 2004 died as well. Luckily our extended warranty was still in effect.
Between that and the dead seat heaters, that extended warranty has more than paid for itself. |
