i am wondering if any one knows the official name of the circled rod in the picture? this is on my 02 MDX, rear left suspension. apparently it is broken from one end and needs to be replaced. looks like it is a simple DIY job as there are bolts on both ends. i am also curious as what this rod do? it looks pretty weak compare to the big spring it is trying to hold. and even if it breaks, i don't feel any problem. thanks.

i looked around other posts and found this website.

i believe it is this thing. cost less than $20. i'd like to ask for some feedbacks if you have used acuraoemparts before. the nearest ACURA dealership is some 30 miles away so if possible i'd rather order the parts online and let them mail me especially for small items like this. it seems this website is on the east coast. is there a similar one near california?

I tried looking at this part up on a Honda website, and it did match the same part. The Pilot and Mdx share alot of parts. If you got a Honda dealer that is closer, try calling them with that part number.

This is what i found.

That's obviously a link for the rear stabilizer bar. The links attach to each end of the stabilizer bar, and the stabilizer bar itself makes a bend (two bends actually) so it's one solid (shallow) U-shaped piece that goes across the width of the vehicle. The bar is mounted in bushings so it can rotate. When both sides of the rear suspension move together, the bar simply rotates in the bushings and the stabilizer bar doesn't resist motion. When there is differential motion (one side compresses more than the other), the stabilizer bar is under torsion and resists the differential movement, thus resisting rolling. Hence the name anti-roll bar.

There was a long discussion on this. People were worried IIRC one rod cut a tire of a member. I wish I could find the thread, the search feature has become annoying, can't search for words under 5 letters.

jackxwu,
You can try these folks. They're in AZ. I ordered some shock bushings from them about two weeks ago and everything went smoothly.

thanks for your replies. i went to a Honda dealer on my way to work. but they don't carry this part. i suppose the one on pilot is different. i will try the AZ one to save some natural resources. thanks.
