Well, it came down to: X5, MLB350, XC90 and LX330. All 2004-05 and all between 30k-50k miles.
After a week of research (I'm a research hound, just spent 3.5 hours reading through this forum and following links before joining), the MDX was the OBVIOUS choice.
My Tahoe transmission died at 138k miles, apparently a magic number. I was unfortunately rushed and I think I probably overpaid for what I got, but I love her...she is an awesome machine!
Ended up with '04 Black/Saddle Touring w/out Nav. I want Nav but for what was available in my market, it added 2-4k to the starting price.
I did get it from Acura, so it is CPO adding a year to B2B and 3 years to powertran. I think we landed at $23,000. From what I've read here, I could have bought one of you guys' silver (my first choice in color) '05 for a bit less, WITH nav.
My wish list:
Adding Nav & DVD Ent sys.
Running Boards
Not the spoiler, but the smaller thing (dont wanna look too pimpy)
Moonroof air deflector
Something to hang my drycleaning on in the back (I saw someone else interested as well!)
For starters, can someone point me to where I can swap out my 'useless' compass and insanely inaccurate and distracting MPG gauge for a Nav? ;)
How about a DVD Ent system that is at least mostly integrated?
I've seen the arguements against going OEM Nav, but I have portables and those 4.3" screens just don't cut it compared to the 7-8" (What is it really?) screen in the dash.
There are a couple out that are 7" but they are over 1k and have external wiring that would drive me nuts....
Thanks All! I'm sure I'll become a super-duper poster! |

| Congrats on the new ride! Putting the factory Nav system is a complete waste of money. For the price it will cost you to install, you should of bought it with the truck. |

Thanks all!
I appreciate the suggestions on the Nav...but a portable just isn't big enough for me. I also don't want wires dangling down my dash to the power outlets...I want it hardwired.
I agree, in hindsight, I should have just gotten one with the Nav in it, but they didn't have the color combo (black or silver with saddle int.) I wanted and I was in a pinch with the dead Tahoe.
I think there is an opportunity here for someone to make some money...to come up with a Nav conversion kit. I'd pay 2k to get Nav and DVD added for sure. Anything above that and I might as well get DVD put into the headrests and pay someone to sit next to me and read the Rand McNally.
Cheers! |

| As far as factory spec, thats a no go for that price. Definitely need to go aftermaket and get a NAV/DVD setup. Go to a local audio/video shop and see what they can do for you. |

Another option is to go on ebay. Those are more affordable. Of course they are used and we are talking about an electronic device.
