Last night for the heck of it I decided to plug in my Actron Scanner into my 02 MDX which has 63K miles on the clock. I bought this car certified from Acura a few months ago, and now I pull this code.

How should I go about trouble shooting this w/o spending too much money??

Please share your expeirences

Thanks Tim for your call earlier, I got the fax, and it came out pretty legible. I'll let you know how it goes troubleshooting this thing. Worse come to worse if I cannot solve it I'll let my bro (He's a BMW dealer tech) do it for me.

How much does a replacement 4th clutch pressure switch cost? and where in the engine bay is it located?

I may PM later with more questions... as I am at work now

If it's the one I'm thinking of, around $50.00. The parts catalog isn't as explicit with its descriptions as the service manual....

Yep, I've called up A&H Motorsports in PA and they have it in stock for $50. They told me before I buy the part to make sure thats the part I really need since its a "special order" item.

I'll keep you posted on my findings

I am having the same issue.
What was in the diagnostic ? Is it a known issue with the switch or it just happened to be the switch in your case ?

Tim, do you think you can scan and post/email it to me ?

I'm not yet sure what it is....

I printed out the factory troubleshooting guide froma forum member and gave it to my brother, who is a BMW dealer tech.... so far he's been too lazy to look at the car.

But in any event due to the gas crisis we are facing now we are going to sell this MDX in a month or so.

Say, what is a good scanner to get for the MDX anyway? I've always wanted to get one but have never got around to it.

I'm surprised that the code has not triggered some malfunction indicator. Not too many owner have code scanners. I doubt the dealer even scans when you drop in for a Type 1 service.

This sounds like I should borrow my son's scanner and see what I get.

I have never heard of a code not triggering a check engine light or some such indicator.

I'd recommend that you stop by your local autozone and pick up a
Actron .. Dont pay more than $150 for one.....

There are cheaper ones on the market, you just have to decide how much you wanna spend.

I also wanted to add that autozone or some auto parts chains will even scan your car and pull your codes for you for free...
you might not even need to buy one unless you are like me and want to have access to it 24/7

As for me I took the plunge and laid down $150 to buy one. So far I have no regrets as I have been able to diagnose my cars own problems, in addition to helping out a few friends and neighbors as well...

some codes, given enough time and neglect will trigger the check engine light....
