I'm thinking about getting my '08 MDX Base's oil changed at about 1500 miles (mostly in town driving; a couple of longer highway trips). Has anyone had dealer feedback about whether the factory fill should stay in longer? I'm planning to replace with Pennzoil Platinum 5W20.
Thanks. |

Do not do it.
That is break in oil Leave it in as recommended by the manual, 7,500 miles.

| That's why I asked; thanks. Goes contrary to everything I've known before, but I see the logic. |

| so you suggest to leave it in until you reach 7500mi even though it may take up to a year to reach such mileage. i'm at a little over 5 months, and i'm just barely breaking 2000miles. I didn't use the mdx much during the winter months as my wife stopped driving since she was pregnant and i used her CR-V. I now put on about 150mi/week on the MDX. I will probably start putting around 200mi/week starting june but it would still take me quite a bit of time to hit the recommended 7500mi |

I believe if you check your manual it is 7,500 miles or one year whichever comes first.

I've checked my manual and I don't see anywhere that it says to leave the oil in for 7500 miles (I could have missed it though). Mine seems to just say to change it when the MID tells you to. Ours is telling us to have our first oil change now and we are not at 7500 miles. I'd have to check to confirm, but I'd say we're at about 2/3 of that.
Oh, and the manual also says that if the MID hasn't told you to change your oil in a year, then you should change it. |

| Go by the MID, as that is what the manufacturer recommends. Jeff, as I posted in another thread, stop shelling out advice for older generation MDX's as things have changed. |
