My wife took our 2002 to the local monkey wrench to check out the vtm4/check engine light thing.
They hooked it up to the computer and said it was the 02 sensor. they fixed that and this morning, there's the vtm4/check engine light again..
Does that code need to be reset after it's fixed? |

| My Check Engine/VTM4 lights just came on last night... I hope its something as small as an O2 sensor. How much did it cost to replace the sensor? |

Mine was diagnosed and replaced by the dealer.
The overall cost was $305, about $150 for the part and $155 for labor. There are several DIY threads on this if you interested in saving the install labor.
The Check Engine light would need to be reset using an OBD2 code reader. Most any shop should be able to do this without issue.
I'm not sure what computer system sets off the VTM-4 light, but I'm thinking this will go off by itself once the sensor is replaced and CEL is reset. |

| Thanks for the info. I had the codes checked at Autozone - Four faults: Cylinder 1 misfire, cylinder 2 misfire, cylinder 5 misfire, & random misfire. My hunch is that its the EGR valve. I'm at 88K miles and have not had it replaced yet... |

I was fooling around with the day light module installation and accidently droped the yellow cable (12 volt supply constant) at the fuse box (under dash on left side facing the truck). Since then the light VTM/check enigne light came on. Then I went to a mechanic shop and after scanning check VSA light came on. The scanner indicated that all four oxygen sensors are bad. This can not be possible as all four sensor can not fry at the same time.
I have ripped the insulation on the yellow wire to the fuse box 9as indicated above) coudl this be related to the lights. Any help will be much appreciated. |
