I was checking the oil yesterday on my 2001 MDX and learned that the bolt that fastens the dipstick tube to the engine is gone. Does anyone know the correct sized bolt to use as a replacement? I'm on the road, so the best I could do was to use a bent paper clip to hold the dipstick to a nearby hose so the tube won't fall out, but I'd rather not rely on that.
Thanks. |

I am curious. Does it really specify 6 x 12?
That is an extremely coarse thread, especially for a #6 size bolt/machine screw. In fact, I have never seen a "12" in any size diameter bolt/screw.
Could it possibly be a 6 x 32?

I just looked at the referenced Parts Diagram/List. From what I can see there I do not believe that the nomenclature, eg 6 x 12, 8 x 50, etc. is standard bolt/machine screw nomenclature. They may be metric sizes or they may be stating the size bolt and its length in milimeters.
Standard English units for a bolt would be 6 x 32 x 1. That would be a number 6 bolt with 32 threads per inch and 1 inch long. Length as well as size and thread pitch must be specified.

| Yea, thats what the schematic said. If not, cant hurt to go to Honda or Acura and ask for the bolt by part number to be sure. |
