I've gotten so many little rock nicks in the front of my rear wheel wells, they look shot-peened.
If I cover them with 3M clear plastic, I'll have to have them painted first. Anybody know of any black plastic like the 3M clear plastic?
Does it work? |

I am not aware of a Black version of 3m Paint Protection Film.
It does work, I am using it on my 3rd vehicle as of now and I have been really happy with the result
That paint protection film just saved me from a hood repaint on my 2007 MDX one month ago when I was backed into by a Toyota Matrix with a trailer hitch mounted bike rack. That Little plate on the top to hold the brand name of the bike rack scraped the paint protection film about 4 inches. The paint was not affected under, I just need to get the film replaced.
Once it is installe and has dried properly (Installs with a mix of Isopropyl Alcohol and Water) just maintain the are like any painted surface with the exception of not using a buffer on the film. |

| I'm seriously considering this Bumper Kit - 3M Scotchguard Paint Protection Clear Bra. The idea is to protect the new front painted bumper for my formal black. |

Hey Lion,
Do you have pics of your formal black bumper painted ?
I am considering painting the bumper as well. I also have the clear bra installed on my formal black, it is terrific. |

It is scheduled to go to my buddy's paint shop in Burbank sometimes mid June. I'm also thinking about painting just the rear bumper insert & leave the front as it is. This way I don't have to worry about the chippings & nicks. |

I had the 3M stoneguard pro installed on mine 2nd day I owned it. 12inches on the hood, headlight, DRL/Fogs, fender tips plus a strip in the door handles for the ladies with long nails. Cost me $300 bucks after taking a bunch of stone chips on the painted portion of the front bumper I'm seriously considering do it as well. I thought about ordering the kit's but I was told by more than a few people..there is a skill to installing this stuff...our headlights being a funky shape are particularly hard to do.
My buddies Nissian Maxima with 220K needs new headlights...the plastic is so cloudly from being sand blasted by the road. Not something I want to see happen to my beloved MDX. |

In my experience with 3M PPF installers, the unpainted portion of the MDX bumper would be a major pain to install the film over it.
They would have to use a minimum of 2 pieces to do it as there are too many curves to try to cover it all with 1 piece. |

Nicks begin quickly.... Cover it early,
Fairly easy area to do yourself... |
