90k mile service on '01 two weeks ago.

Ever since it came back there is a whump whump whump ... sound. seems to be more noticeable when decelerating (not related to braking) and between 30mph and 40 mph, but can be heard at all speeds. Also, seems loader on pavement then concrete.

Something with the tires? They were rotated at the service.

Any ideas on what to check? Thanks.

Have you checked the tire tread to see if there are any rocks or imperfections? Maybe something was wrong with one of the rear tires and since they moved them forward they are more pronounced.

Customer drives off- Whump Whump Whump Whump

A general rule of thumb is that when your car comes out of the dealer worse than when it went in, you should go back to the dealer.

I do not know why you would even consider anything other than going back to the service department. Why even ask? Can you explain?

yeah, I have an appointment for a test drive with a mechanic on saturday.

I wanted to check and see if anyone had any ideas on what the noise could be or what tires sound like with a problem.

Rotated left to right instead of front to back?

Cupped tires?

Improper balance?

Thanks

Sounds like you have a broken belt in one of your tires my friend.

went for test drive with tech this morning.

noise coming from uneven tire wear / cupping of tires.

just a noise, not a problem.

The smoother the road, the louder it is.

Did you rotate the tires regularly?

yes, about every 7 -8 k

I too have that same noise, I assume it must be the tires as well, except, mine are BRAND NEW!!! Being that my buddy used to work at tires plus, I was pretty aware of most tire problems, and am too surprised to find my tires making the same noise? And you guys are right, I definitely hear it more on smooth roads, brand new asphalt, it sounds horrible. Maybe I'll have them rotated anyways.

Brand new tires wouldnt need a rotate. Are you sure they are properly balanced, properly inflated? No rocks or debris in the tread? Maybe you bought some bad tires. What brand are they?
