I am wondering if people know if dealers are getting close to their asking prices for 04 and 05 MDX'? I am in the market now to trade in my 02 TL Type S for an 04 or 05 MDX Touring.
I am in the Boston area. Any thoughts would be great. Thanks!
And Yes GO CELTS GO!!! |

With fuel concerns SUV prices have dropped significantly. You need to shop around to different dealers and what is offered. 05 Adds XM and bluetooth. Tank is 1 gallon bigger.
Alot of 05's are now coming off lease. I think there is 2.9% on CPO mdx's this month.
And :welcome: |

It have noticed a lot of 05's lately and one dealer mentioned there are more coming off lease.
I am looking at an 05 with 40k, Touring, No Nav, No Res. Sage with Grey. They are asking 19,900 seems like a great deal. Not a Acura dealer. So i will not get the 2.9 or CPO. but it is in great shape might be worth it.
Thanks for the Welcome! i love the forums so much to learn. |

Thanks!!! I wasnt looking for this color at all, and I just happen to see it. That price seems pretty good. I am sure you can haggle that price down even more. Make sure you inspect it well. |

Stopped in to look at another 05 with 46k Sage and Black with DVD asking 24,700 They offered to payoff my 02TL Type S at 8500. I declined but they called back to offer me another 1500 off. Told thanks but i still wanted to look at the one listed above first.
But the funny part is that they get to try one more time before i go look at it. When i left the dealership this AM i left with the keys to the 05 MDX!!!! OPPPPSSSS. hahahaha
but i must say they were great to work with so far, even though no deal has been made.
just Classic...i leave with Keys!!!! |

Yes I did buy the 05 Sage with Black with 46k miles. I got them to give 10,500 for the TL and put new tires on the MDX
23k 2.9 for 60 months declined the 100k bumper to bumper.
It is a great ride. As midnightMDX stated I liked the offer and feel good about it so it, to me, is a good deal.
The dealer was very impressive to work with too. Very Happy I bought from them. |

That was a steal from the sounds of it. Unless the 02 TLS had VERY low mileage they aren't worth $10,500 right now.
You did very well indeed. |

well that is good to hear!
The TLS had 89k.
hey, atleast i helped out. I had to go back and get Cd's out of the TLS, while i was there i heard a sales guy on the phone talking to a customer about my car but he could not find it in stock or any other info about it.
So when he got off I told him about it and that it was in way back of the lot. So i did my part to help them out :)
We are loving the MDX! Nice ride. |

$10,500 with 89K?
Yikes! You uhh.. you paid $20k for that MDX, you stole it. TLS is worth $7500 IMO.
Well done indeed! |

Well, if they gave you $10,500 for the TLS it was like buying the MDX for $20k instead of $23k. It's what's called an overallowance.
I don't like to do it myself, but sometimes we do. You get a customer who needs $X for their trade, and that figure is a dealbreaker.
Example:
Customer is buying a used Cadillac CTS we have on the lot. They are trading in a 1997 Cadillac STS with 175K miles.
1997 STS is worth $400. They are adamant that it's worth $1800 and that's a dealbreaker.
Now, my asking price on the CTS is $16,995. I need to get mid $15s for it.
No problem, they were Ok with $16,995 on the CTS, so we gave them $1800 for their STS, but in reality they bought the CTS for $15,595 and I ACV'd (Actual Cash Value, what we actually booked the 97 Caddy in for) the STS for $400.
Customer is happy, we sell car, they no longer drive megamile battered Caddy and now have nice CTS with Navi, etc.
Everybody happy.
Hence why I said that you REALLY got a deal on the MDX, your old TL was not worth anywhere near $10,500. An 89k mile 03 TLS isn't worth $10,500. |
