Hey everyone,

I'm looking to get a used '07 MDX w/ sport package around the end of this year. Depending on prices, I will even settle for tech package.

I started my research already and expect prices to fall a little more once '09 models go on sale, so I'm estimating maybe $1k lower than current prices I find. But I found this and it looks way too good to be true...what do you guys think?

Most prices I've found range from $35-$40k for used '07s w/ sport or tech packages with up to 25k miles.

If I were you, I'd work a little harder, save up a little more, and get the brand new '09 SPORT. The price between used & brand SPANKING new ones isn't that far off. If you plan to keep the vehicle, buy it new. With this, there will be no second guess, doubts, regrets, & the voice in your mind ... Why didn't I get the SPORT brand new?

Trust me on this SPORT one.

Wouldn't it be nice to see 4 miles on the ODO, plastic wraps intacked, & the magic sport button?

Before I bought my current car (06 M45 sport), I told myself that I would not buy a new car again because unless you're getting a steal on a new car or raped on a used car, getting a used car will always financially make more sense. That "little voice" in my head is screaming at me for not getting used!

Unless there's a dealership that's willing to unload an '08 w/sport or tech package at the end of this year for < $40k, I'm sticking to what I told myself prior to my current car.

I'm usually very conservative to the point of "cheap", but the M45 was a "reward" car for myself and not very practical for my situation (I do real estate and own some rental property, so am more often than not transporting stuff that won't fit in a sedan), which is why it's gotta go.

Did you used to have a 2nd Gen RL? I think I recognize your username from the RL forums.

No, but I'm active on Acurazine.com since I had a CL-S way back in 2000. The RL was up for consideration before I got the M, but of course could not stand up to V8/RWD of the M...and this rubs a lot of people in the RL forums the wrong way for some reason...but I guess that happens when they are rooting for a car that is more or less a sales failure for Acura.

Brand new 07 Tech, with power tailgate, Invoice - $2,000 unless you take the special financing rate.

That's what, $39-40k?

Buying a used 07 makes no sense right now IMO.

Now, not all dealers will sell one at invoice, but it is doable in most major markets.

i have not ruled out buying new, but by the time I am ready to buy, the '07's will have depreciated further from the new price. It all depends on what the prices look like 3-4 months from now when the '09s are out.

Even if I were to buy today used, based on current prices buying used would save approx. $5k, which is a lot of money. Towards the end of the year when '09s start selling, the price difference will be even greater. Why not save money on a DEPRECIATING asset?
