I been out of the loop with music lately, so I am looking for a place to legally download music. A Subscription service. I've heard of places that are unlimited for X dollars per month but I know there are different limitations with each site. I want to be able to transport the music to an Ipod or cd(:rolleyes:yea i know). Let me know what you guys are using, price, pros and cons. Thanks!

I get mine mostly from Itunes. The advantage if you have some kind of ipod is great. Ease of use, good integration between ipod and itunes, huge selection, not expensive, (.99). Cons are most of the music is propriety with apple and does not play on other MP3s unless you download software from a 3rd party to rip it. I am sure there are more pros and cons that others can chime in with.

I just copied all my CD's to my laptop and I can dump to the Ipod or phone from there. New music I still get by CD...must be my age. I have a couple of CD wallets in the X. Guess I'm a dinosaur.

as far as subscription services go, I heard good things about rhapsody, but you are limited to their player I believe.

I have also heard great things about the new Zune and the Zune service which is all you can eat as well.

1. 70% of my (+5,000 songs mp3 were purchased at mp3search.ru) at 320k/b. Yes 320k/b is a clear difference from standard 128k/b. Each song cost around $0.15 - $0.25.
2. 20% from personal CDs/DVDs.
3. 5% from itunes (mainly music videos converted to DVDs...).
4. 5% from DVD-Audio converted to super MP3 format (mp3 with a 95% decoded to 6 channels dts).

Together, they fit nicely in 3 regular dvds & 3 regular dual layer dvds. Since there is no solid ipod link for the RES, ipod is not an option for me at the moment.

It is & has been a great site with enourmous selection + great price (comparing to buy.com, itunes, amazon... mostly $1.00/song at low bitrate).

One note: I wouldn't deposit too much money at once in your account just incase the site get shut down for some reason. After all IT IS an "international" web site.

Definitely get my 12000+ tracks from a variety of Russian sites.

My two favorites are mp3sparks.com and musicmp3.ru. I really like that I can listen to an entire album on mp3sparks.com and either buy it there or at the other site.
