I have 02 MDX, 93 K miles. A/C is not working. If refrigerant leak is detected, how it will be fixed? Is it repairable or replacement is the only solution?

Please tell me how your A/C problems were fixed and how expensive are A/C repairs?

Thanks in advance.

Replacement is the only solution for a leak. It all depends on what needs to be replaced. Theres a million pieces to the puzzle, only way to find out is to have it inspected/tested.

Thanks for your reply.

I noticed some water condensation and wetness below the glove box when A/c was working with very low efficiency. Does it mean any leaks in the parts like evaporator etc which are situated under the glove box?

If evaporator is to be replaced, how much will it cost?

Midnight is correct. I would not speculate on what part is leaking and I would not start replacing part by part looking to fix it. The only way to find the leak is to have the system tested. Once the bad part(s) are determined then a cost estimate can be determined.

That might be a clog in the drain pipe as well. The A/c Parts reside right behind the glovebox. Without a thorough inspection its hard to put a price on it. Pony up the cash and get it checked out. Then decide from there if the price is worth the fix. Then at that point you can call other shops and see what they will charge to fix it.

Thank you all for your suggestions.

I got it checked with the dealer yesterday. They recharged the A/C system and added dye. But they could not find the leak. I have to take it to the service center after a week to find the leak. Now, A/c is working fine. Hope there are no leaks in the system.

See that wasnt too hard. Hopefully they dont find anything major. Let us know how it goes.

I'll update you the developments.......
