Could be worse.. we could be Ford or Toyota! (Down 28 and 22% respectively) |

Jeff,
I don't think that we're doing all that bad as a brand, but as I have said before, the TSX is saving us.
From what I heard today, the whole market, nationwide, is down about 15-20% or so which is enormous, if that's the case, America will lose about 3 million new car sales this year, that's going to be a huge loss to the economy.
Back to the figures.. they mean very little to me at my store.. Our TL numbers are below 07, but not that far 07. The new TL is coming and everyone knows it.
Right now RDXs are about as popular as space heaters in the Sahara, they are down, I would guess, 50% at our store.
MDXs for us are down, I dunno, 20% now... but our sister store in Jersey (Where the market is MUCH wealthier) is selling the heck out of them, down there it's more of a "Hey, we got dealer cash, look, you can get one even cheaper, how cool is that?" attitude.
But seeing as how bad the market is on SUVs, and how bad the market is overall, I think that 16.9% overall is pretty strong right now.
TSXs for us are selling like absolute hotcakes. We just closed out June, we sold 30 of them. We sold 71 cars total.
RL sales are no surprise, we have 2 RLs right now, a CPO 05 and the General Manager's 08 demo. Nobody around here has many of them, there's hardly any Techs out there, a handful of base cars (An RL without Navi, nobody buys em) and a couple of CMBS/PAX cars, again, nobody buys them either.
Used cars are on fire right now, used MDXs are flying off the shelves (Go figure!) and anything used with a 4-cylinder is hotter than a pistol.
The guys that are dying right now are the Domestic guys, in the past month 2 dealers that I drive past on a daily basis (One Pontiac-GMC and one Dodge) have shut down. Some friends of mine at domestic stores are very scared right now.... you think MDX sales are bad, Trailblazers are down almost 60%, Explorers 30+%, F Series pickups over 40%. At some Ford stores those vehicles are well over half their business. |

Ah, I figured the dealer incentive would go to $2,500. At least it didn't go to $3,000.
Even if it did I have no regrets with buying 2 weeks ago because I was moving from NC to IN, which means a 3 to 7% tax shift, so I had my own $1,500 incentive built in there! |

| what were the june incentives? |
|
|

I think it was 0.9% rate for 36 months + $1000 dealer cash.
No special financing, $2000 dealer cash. |

I concur the $2,000 dealer cash incentive. My sport was supposed to be 48.6 OTD, ended up paying 46.6. I believe this is no longer available. |

| i got the mdx entertainment/tech package with options like sports running board, body side moldings and side roof rails for $43,500 OTD (including 7.25% tax) last week of june, how did I do? |

Sounds like it. Not too much added incentive is there? |

That's what it be.
$500 extra if you don't take the rate. If you finance much over $20k it pays to take the rate. |
|

Actually the rate + $1,000 is a left-over June incentive that doesn't expire until July 7. I imagine at that time it'll change to rate + $1,500?
The dealer incentive is $500 in addition to last month's incentive. I doubt they'd go to $3,000 but we'll see. Now's the time to buy a used one if you're looking because rebates do wonders with ruining resale value. |

| MDX's are still moving at a good clip. The only ones that are starting to pile up are the Sport models. Most people so not see the value for the extra money. |
|

That's interesting. When I was looking last month, out of 4 dealers in my area, each dealer had anywhere from 20-50 MDX's yet only 0-5 of which were sport models.
If they had had one in steel blue I probably would have convinced myself to upgrade. |

| Every part of the country sells them differently. About 40% of the new cars that we sell are MDX's and we significatly out sell our competition. However the Sport model is not moving well. |

I think we have 58 allocated for the rest of the 08 Model year, of those, 43 are on the ground right now.
I have 1 Sport with entertainment on the ground, that's it.
On the other hand, one of our employees just moved to Southern Cali where he's a sales manager at an Acura dealership, he tells me that they sell tons of Sports and can't get enough of them which surprises him considering how few we ever had to sell.
I'd say 75% of the ones we sell are Tech/PTG models. |

| How long have you been selling Acura's? |
|
|

| I'm not a salesperson, I'm the used car manager |

| OK - How long have you been with Acura? Where is your dealership and which one in Jersey is your sister dealership? |
