About half the time it's being used, the wireless infared headphones won't work. It's not the headsets themselves, as both go dead together.

Went to the dealer and they "found" a pinched harness wire, made a mess pulling the overhead stuff off while they replaced it (3 days due to having to order the part).

Needless to say, there is no change.

Just wondering if any of you guys has had a similar issue, and what you found out.

Thanks!

I am having the same exact problem. I have only had the car a week and the electronics have been a mess. Headphones work sometimes, other times there is no sound. Sometimes the DVD works, othertimes it says INVALID when you try to press play. All my presets have changed multiple times even though I have set all my memories. I am hoping I am doing one thing wrong because this is the most expensice car I have owned and so far the worst as far as reliability.

Hey playfair, I just did some research and came upon this. By the way now that I think about it, mine worked at night only so I think this person is on to something.....

We had the very same issue. The wireless headphones would work great when we got in the car in the morning. We would drive to an event, park the vehicle in the parking lot and when we returned the wireless headphones did not work. I started to notice that this only happened on hot days. Car is in the garage in the morning (cool and headphones worked), Hot sun in the afternoon (hot and no wireless in either headphone set). Moved the car back to the garage and 10 minutes of cooling off, the headphones both worked again.

We were actually able to reproduce this (cold, hot, cold) failure mode at the dealer.

They ended up replacing the whole ceiling mounted unit, the one with the infrared senders) but as far as I know, no cables were replaced between the dash system and the ceiling unit.

So far it has been working like a charm. The dealer has sent the failed unit back to Acura corp. to figure out what when wrong, although I still suspect some sort of thermal failure.

Hope this helps with your diagnosis.

Mine is acting the same way. It's fine in the morning after being parked in the garage, but when I drive home after it being parked outside in the sun all day, they stopped working. Looks like I have to take it in.

I took my MDX in last week and after a couple days of troubleshooting and with the help of Acura Tech Line, they decided to replace the screen unit. After 2 days of sitting in the sun, it still works so looks like it's fixed. They were initially going to replace the head unit and I told them that it doesn't make sense. I was going to let them do it since that's what Tech Line initially told them to do. All in all, I'm happy again. The dealership was really good about things and they put me in a TSX right away.

Out of curiousity, what year are your cars (w/ issues)?

Mine was 08.
I had an 03 for 4 years and never had any issues with that system.
