Hello everyone. My name is Billy, and I'm a car wholesaler who finally got tired of selling SUVs so cheap and decided to get one of my own. I wanted an MDX last year when we were shopping for the wife, but they were a little more than I wanted to spend, so I got a loaded Accord. Today, I traded that dinged and scratched up 2003 Accord EX-L, and got my 2002 red MDX with 64k and a 2 year HondaCare warranty-all with no money out of pocket. I've always liked Honda stuff, though my true love is my Silverado:

I like trying to make my truck forum guys understand the sense it makes to buy Honda stuff, but of course they never want to hear it. I'm one of the very few Chevy/Honda guys.
I've been searching up whether running premium is actually necessary among other things. Great site! :7:

Welcome aboard...:) :welcome:
I run 87 octane in my 02 and I see no difference between 87 and 91. I get about 21 MPG in local driving with 87 and it pulls my boat to the ramp no problem. No pinging, no knock, no power loss.
There is a thread here where a Davis chip test was run on a 02 and it showed no gain with 89 octane or higher unless at WOT.
So save your money and run 87.
Do a search on the topic...many different opinions but it seems with the 01 02 it makes little difference what octane you use. |

| thanks guys. I did check the history on the tranny and it was checked back when the problems occured and it was supposedly fine. Thats one of the main reasons I went ahead and got the 24/24 warranty-just to make myself feel safe for a little while anyway. |
