Rear-facing Britax Marathon carseat? - Click HERE for Original Thread

We just purchased a 2008 MDX and our 9 month old daughter is close to growing out of the infant carrier so it's time to upgrade. Does anyone have the Marathon seat rear-facing in the center position of the second row? It is a pretty large seat, so I'm concerned that it may not fit.

Thanks!

We have two kids, so put them each on a side so I don't have specifics about the center position.

However, we do have the Marathon (and it's a great seat, I highly recommend it) for our 8 month old. It's rear facing and sits right behind the driver's seat- I'm 6'5" and have the seat back pretty far. It fits, though it touches the back of my seat. I can only imagine that the center location will have more room, and that you probably aren't as tall as I am so would have the seats farther forward.

In short, you should be fine with it.

I also have two Britax Marathons in the 2nd row, both now forward-facing. Never had a problem in the rear-facing position, and had a little gap between the car seat and the seat backs.

You should have no problem fitting the Marathon in the rear facing position. in the center. We had that setup in the past. The MDX is so wide that there is plenty of space.

Partially on topic. ....

I have a 2 year old in a Britax Boulevard in the right rear position. I put some foam flooring underneath and behind the car seat to protect the ACura seat from getting creases in it. When you tighten the carseat down the plastic carseat base will put creases in the Acura seat, particularly if you leave it there for months or years.

Check out this link. This is the stuff I used. It looks ok with my black interior. You can cut it to the shape of your carseat base and back with large scissors.

Needless to say, we also used a seat protector. We have the Ultra Mat by Sunshine Kids. It's heavy duty material.
