I can't put car flags up because it "bends" the plastic black piece above the rear side windows.
Speaking of which, the plastic black pieces on the doors that surround the window are kinda flimsy.

There is a digital compass on the clock/date display, top centre of the dashboard (where the navi screen would go).
I wish there was an option to choose on the base model:
1. Push Button Start
2. Power Lift Gate
My biggest pet peeve is the seatbelt for the 2nd row middle passenger coming from the roof - what's wrong with a lap belt??? |

In the back seat a lap belt can be worse than no belt at all. The reason is that you can get a worse injury wearing a lap only belt than you can by slamming into the seats in front of you. I know this from first hand experience. |

As it is, I only have one complain, and that's the horrible plastic "wood" trim.
Everything else falls under the "would like to have" category and that includes:
- heated steering wheel
- a bit more torque off the line
- auto sensing windshield wipers
- keyless entry & start
- sound system playing more [looseless] audio formats (maybe it's just me on this one). |
|

I don't mind the roof rails and all the accessories because a lot of people have no need, for them, why get them and pay for them?
My complaints:
Bad choice on tires
Plood
No rear sunshades
no ipod integration
no cooled seats
navi system looks primitive (low res screen)
Sharp stitching on the steering wheel
bad center console, needs to be deeper
soft easily wearing leather, I rather have harder leather they used in the 2004 TL's. |

1: Fake plastic wood!
2: XM radio sounds bad. Sirius would
have been better
3: no RDS. Even cheap radios have it
4: lousy gas mileage, not even close to
epa ratings.
5: temporary spare
6: no electric folding mirrors
7: sport should include height drop as
part of the package.
8: PTG should have been a stand alone option.
9: radio aux input in dumb location. Why put it in the bottom of the center console bin. It would be better next to the power outlet in the console.
10: full bluetooth functionality doesn't work with all bluetooth phones.
11: not being able to turn off DRL. |

1. bluetooth, had to buy a new phone for that car, even though the previous had bluetooth function.
2. Navigation.
- No touch screen function?!
- Irritating voice command, you have to talk to that thing for 5 minutes before it dials
- on my Toyota I just choose the number on my phone and it will dial through NAV, with this one even when the phone is paired and you dial form it, it does not use the NAV, so I dial, drop the call, people call me back and I pick the up on the NAV, very cool:3:
3. Still confused with the info display, the really made it hard to find like outside temp, I still flip through almost every menu to find it
4. Even though I love gadgets it is TOO much buttons, I have to count them one day:D
5. Occasionally I hit the Back door when it opens from remote, when I try to put the groceries. If I open it manually it opens to the full extend, if from remote then I catch it with my head and I am not a giant |

Unlike most of you ladies complaining in this thread, I actually test drove my X before I bought it, so I knew what I was getting into (namely, a kickass CUV).
Dislikes:
- None
It's everything I thought it would be. My interior looks brand new after a year of abuse, is drum tight, and garners nothing but compliments from passengers on the design and comfort. The navigation system is a breeze to use on the fly (try that in a Lexus/BMW/Benz), and it has yet to steer me wrong. It has one of the most intelligently integrated rear seat DVD systems I've seen, replete with integrated remote and a low-profile 9" screen that doesn't interfere with the rearview mirror. The ADS works as advertised -- better, even -- and actually makes hustling this rig through the twisties fun.
That said, features I would like to see would be:
- Power folding mirrors
- Cooled seats
- Blind spot warning system
- IPOD/USB CONNECTIVITY!!!!!!
That's pretty much it. Anything else is gilding the lily as far as I'm concerned. Yes, yes, more torque, blah, blah, blah (I'm thinking 800lbs/ft@1000rpm should be sufficient) and better fuel economy (80 mpg sounds about right)... But overall, there's still nothing out there that comes close for the price.

The MDX is an absolute great SUV. I like it a lot more than I expected. The best surprise has been fuel economy and the minimal maintenace expense. Over the last 5000miles of commuting the MDX has averaged 24mpg (9.8l/100). Very impressive. Maintenance expense is about 30% of what I was paying for my Infiniti g35x.
There are downsides to the MDX, but nothing that major:
1) The SatNav is great in many ways, but the POI data base really is poor. So much so, that I still take my Garmin Nuvi with me when travelling to new places.
2) The plastic wood pieces on the dash do the MDX a disservice. The interior quality is quite good, but the plastic dash really does not look like it belongs.
3) Once you have used keyless entry and start, using a key is a step backwards. This should be an option on this SUV.
The MDX is top of its class. The closest SUV that compares is the BMW X5 and that is a lot more expensive to own. Acura could make it better, but they have done a great job. |

1: Gear Ratios: My only major gripe! Lower 1st by 15%, 2nd through 5th by 25%, and add 6th where the current 5th resides. Gotta make proper use of the 300bhp!
2: Rear Visibility: I'd make the rear window a little larger and place it lower. I'd also thin out the D-pillars a little.
3: Steering Wheel design: The spokes (especially the bottom one) are too thick, making it difficult to grab the rim during quick maneauvers.
4: Passenger side backrest is not heated.
5: All-season tires: Ha! Thats an easy fix. I'll be using Goodyear GS-D3 high-performance tires in the summer and Nokian Hakka SUV tires in the winter.
Other than that, the MDX just kills the competition in it's price range |

What's your secret? We have aboug 7k miles on our car and our overall average is 15mpg. In the city I get about 12mpg . On a recently highway trip I got less than 20mpg. While not driving slow, my speeds were not unreasonable, ~75mph.
My old minivan which also got lousy city gas mileage would get 24mpg on the highway at similar speeds. |

No major complaints for such a great driver's SUV for the price. I actually finished an Acura survey not too long ago ranking what I would consider more important - performance, fuel economy, luxury, etc. Of course I chose performance.
My only gripe is the steering wheel with the honkin' big center with not much place to put your hands on. I would like a less busy interface and better wood and leather surfaces on the upgrade.
The 07 MDX does almost everything well and has been very reliable in 20,000 miles of driving. I hope Honda/Acura keeps working on alternative fuel sources so it can keep on making the MDX in an age of SUV extinction. |

1. Stream-line the awful & bulky steering wheel with better stiching on the wood. Since we're at it, more wood on the WOOD steering wheel & less leather please.
2. A way to minimize/disable the loud & irritating DING warning sound (seat belt, running low on fuel, etc.)
3. One key access to phonebook in NAV instead of pressing a hundred times.
4. If it's not much to ask, Push START/STOP button on 3rd generation MDX, if you want me to be your return customer. Hey Acura, your two closest competitors (Lexus & Infiniti) have that switch many moons ago.
5. Plastic bumper inserts need to be painted or just get rid of it.
6. Two to three inch wider sport running board so it can used as it intended to be.
7. Bird eye view camera like the new Infiniti EX & FX.
8. Increase flip-down screen for the RES from the SO DATED 9" LCD to minimum 12" screen. Since we are on the RES, bluetooth headphone please. Infrared have range limitation.
9. On the side note, please rethink your new signature ACURA FUGLY front grille. I was close of buying your new 2009 TL but couldn't get pass that hideous frontal appeal.

Tom |

What don't I like:
1: Cheap interior materials, fake wood
2. No parking sensor
3: 2nd row seats can't slide forward to creat more room for 3rd row passengers
4: No display of outside temp. and trip info at the same time
5: Blue tooth doesn't work with some of the most common cell phones for phone book transfer
6: Subpar audio quality unless you play DVD-audio disks.
7: Keys too big when extended
What do I like?
1. Value.
2. How it drives
3: Right size
4: reliability (keep my fingers cross) |

I really don't have a secret to the great milage, but I do find it pleasently surprising. I was expecting a much more expensive experience.
What I do or at least try to do:
1) Use synthetic oil
2) Accelerate with patience.
3) Start and go, no long periods of idling.
4) Keep the speeds to about 65MPH on highway
5) Use cruise control when possible.
6) Premium fuel
7) My drives are at least 15 minutes, never less.
I have noticed that on the highway that keeping the MDX around 60ish is about 20% better than 75MPH. I have actually seen better than 28.5MPG when staying at a constant 60 over a long distance. But I normally travel closer to 70MPH when possilble. |

My front seat passengers are frequently hitting the rear a/c controls with their elbows/forearms. It's almost like there needs to be a little hood or spoiler coming off the top of the armrest at the rear to keep people's arms from rolling back onto the AC controls.

1. abbreviated rear end - there is absolutely no space behind the third row seat when they're both up. not convenient for some people like me who need to tote a double stroller when we go out with the kids.
2. battery - been hearing a lot of complaints about it. never thought i'd experience it first hand.
3. leather seats - sad to say, subjectively, german cars have better leather seats than the acuras i've had. also, the 1st gen mdx had wider third row seats.
4. console too busy - and even so, you would still have to push some of the buttons a gazillion times before you get to the option you need that they buried under all those sub-menus.
5. the handsfree link needs a hearing aid. i am constantly amazed at what kind of information it deduces out of the numbers or names that i recite out loud.
and just nitpicking...
i was surprised at how good the acadia rear view monitor is when i accompanied my friend to test drive one. you could almost swear that they put in a mid to high grade video camera lens in there. much better than the one i have in my mdx.
i really miss the second row built in sunshades in my touareg...that and the lumbar support that i can almost use as a massager on a long drive...*sigh*
they need to pay more attention to the fit and finish of the vehicle. after one year, the rubber trimming is loose in some areas, my glove compartment has a gap that scares me will fall out one of these days and the overhead console is starting to get detached from the headliner. my front power dc socket is also not working...oh well, inspite of all of these, i still love my mdx... |

Sure:
First of all, the ratios suck. Fifth gear is WAY too tall compared to 4th. The car needs to be a 6 speeder. Or drop 5th down a bit. Honestly, 80 MPH pulls 2,100 RPM or so, it could be a bit higher.
Second, I find that the shift quality isn't great. Most of the time it's ok, but there are times when it gets confused and could operate a bit better.
Third, it is not an adaptive transmission. Meaning it still wants to upshift to 5th very quickly and not hang onto gears rather than learn what I want to do.
Fourth, the hill sensing, which holds the gear when on an uphill, leaves much to be desired in it's logic.
Fifth, the manual mode isn't great, but then again, it's really no worse than others I have driven.
Sixth, there is no "sport" mode. Why not, the RDX has one, and it's great for when you want to attack a bit better.
Seventh, there are no paddle shifters, even on the Sport model. Again, the RDX has them.
Eighth: D3 is useless. Give me D4. Or nothing, all it does is give me a detent to slip into by accident (honestly, this doesn't happen often). |

cleaner console layout
a shifter where down is +gear and up is -gear
paddle shifters?
option for both mirrors to tilt when reversing
reverse guide lines on backup camera

Maybe I am just picky...I use to always upgrade the factory sound systems with aftermarket.....but when I bought my last truck I ordered it with the upgraded factory system and it's actually pretty good.

I can't comment on the Murano, but I can say that not all Nissan's are over priced. I recently helped my aunt buy a car and she ended up getting a Nissan Sentra. It provided the most bang for the buck. We came close to getting a Mazda 3, but none of the dealers had a comparable one at a comparable price. I drove the Sentra, and a Versa, and I can say it is not a bad car. Definitely not the worst car in it's class. |

I can't park it near the entrance of the mall :D.
No iPod interface with full control from the console.
No Sirius option. XM is a joke when you've had Sirius.
Fully integrating iPod and Sirius into my OEM system is going to cost me over $600!
Center console storage is clumsy.
No remote start.
Bulky key fob/ no push start.
No spare change slot.
A cargo shade should be standard in a box in the backseat for when you're ready to use it.
No full size spare option.
Rear windows don't go all the way down.
Third row has far too much leg room.
Wood steering wheel and shifter knob are options that can be found standard on an RL.
Painted monochromatic bumpers, lower garnishes and 19" wheels should be a part of a premium package including the steering wheel and shifter.
5.1 Channel ELS Audio system really doesn't sound that great and the rear speakers and sub shut off when the rear entertainment is in use so it doesn't drown out the audio. All you can hear in front while the rear entertainment is active is tinny sound from the front and center channel speakers. I spent the first day of ownership thinking that the speakers were REALLY bad, not just, so, so. |

So sorry sir, you have a lot of typos in your request, therefore, no return. You wrote & I quote "But I like more salts.........". It should be "But me likes more saltses..........". :p |

I'll try. Very clever examples of your point. So, let me see... the valuable response that you wanted to ensure I didn't miss was that I should "go on Dr. Phil" presumably because I'm a drama queen because I was surprised to find out the wood was plastic in a $45K vehicle? I see now Master Yoda, the jokes on me;) |

so you would have turned down buying the X because it has FAUX wood? Very expensive to replace REAL wooden dash and door parts........Also parking it in the direct sun is not so good for real wood dash parts so I've been told.....
Also no real wood part would match if you had to change it. Much easier to replace with Faux wood and have a perfect match......Are you aware of how much REAL leather is on your butt vs. faux leather? Not as much as you thought.......Perhaps the price of these vehicles should come down like our HOMES have....... |

Comes to think of it, they (the stealer) did put a gun in your head before you signed that contract, didn't they? As far "drama queen", that wasn't me. The Master Yoda, I'll take.
Look, if your car has a problem, go get it fixed. It is under warranty. If the problem is unrepairable (by different dealers), then perhaps a lemon law is in order. Other option is to trade it to something else that may fit you as Evan215's recommendation.
I apologize if my words are somewhat harsh. I make fun of almost everyone in here. :p |
