I'm not sure if this been covered or not, but i recently received my front license plates in the mail. In ca, its the law to have a front plate. My problem is i dont wanna drill a hole on my front bumper to put on the plates. Is there like a kit that can hold the plate that wouldn't require drilling a hole? Thanks

edit: forgot to say the year, its a 2005 mdx

What year MDX? There is a front license plate bracket bit I'll have to check whether it requires drilling.

Check your infloor compartment at the back my licence plate kit was in there when I first got mine.

Many other states also require a front license plate. I would never encourage you to disregard the law. I do have a friend that has an MDX that looks exactly like mine. He took the front license plate off his front bumper and stores it in the hidden cargo area. It makes the front of the MDX look much cleaner. My friend has never been stopped by law enforcement for not having a front license plate. YMMV.

You need #13.
71180-S3V-A10ZA BASE, FR. LICENSE PLATE

Alot of people hate the front plate look. For some cars the plate is such an eyesore to the bumper lines.

I have my front plate on my MDX.

Maryland will pull you over without a front plate. Some S2000 friends of mine refer to it as a luxury tax--In order to have the luxury of not having the front plate, you have to pay $60.00 every time you get caught. :)

I had to get creative of my front tag location on the S because it absolutely makes the car look buck tooth in its stock location.

Tag is supposed to go on the leading edge of the bumper--relocated to the grille below.

BTW, those rims are soon to be for sale. 18 inch Zenetti Fives--should fit first gen MDX--I know bolt pattern is right, offset I will have to check on--S2000 and MDX need "high" offset. Will need more truck-like tires tho.

Not sure about the other years, but for a 2004, the front license plate bracket has a large "hook" that grabs on to bumper on top, and two screws that go into factory predrilled holes below.

That's correct, no drilling is needed. I just got all the supplies from the dealer. <$24 Easy do it yourself job.

Yes, but your friend with the beautiful X lives in Hawaii, where eveyone is high on coconut milk. If your friend lived in, say. New Jersey or New York, he'd have troopers surrounding his vehicle with guns drawn, to do an "armed and dangerous" felony stop. No front license plate could be equated with a trip to Guantanomo in some states.

I concur everyone knows everyone in Hawaii including the cops so your situation does not apply! I've been there so many times the cops are local jokes who patrol in THEIR cars with a red light on the dash board drinking coconut milk and remove it when they clock out and blend in with everyone else.....

I have the plate on the front of my MDX, but I also have a TL and I Have never put the front plate on. I just keep it in the trunk. Once my wife got a parking ticket and they tacked on $25 for no front plate. They gave the option of fixing it, but I just paid the $25. I have never been asked about it again, but I figure if I am... I will say it was stolen and I did not reattach the new one in the trunk.
