| Some a-hole decided to run there keys all over the side of my 04 MDX (sage) . There are probably 15-20 deep long scratches on the passenager side. Anyone have any suggestions on repair or know of any good body repair shop in the nyc area for the job. How much would something like that typically cost to repair at a body shop. TIA. |

Yipes :3: next to door dings this pisses me off to no end, is key scratches. Realistically you might have to end up doing the whole MDX. To get a finish you will like. If it was just one door or a panel with one scratch you could get away with painting that section and blending it, but 15-20, I don't know. The only reason I say that is because you said the " the side" you might want to get insurance involved since it can be considered vandalism,do you have comprehensive? of course you will have to get a police report. |

Thanks for all the comments. Warzau, Thanks for your suggestions.
Looks like the insurance will cover it (after the deductible). They want me to bring it to one of their body shop to have a claim adjuster look at the damage. The body shop also does direct repairs for them as well as a number of the major insurance companies. Any cons with letting them handle the repair or should I bring it to the dealer's body shop? |

| laborlitigator, how do you talk down the deductible? isnt that written into the purchased policy? I mean I know I can purchase a policy with a lower deductible but once the policy is purchased how can you talk it down???? |

You'd have to work that out with the place doing the work, not the insurance company. Sometime they'll meet you halfway. |

Exactly. Every car I've owned I've had a $1000 deductible. Anytime I've had repair, I always bargain with the body shop that if they want the business, they can give some back on the deductible. |

YES! if not more,(everythings negotiable, especially auto body repair) plus you might be able to get only the 1 side painted cheaper for what the insurance co. will pay= you pay nothing! Good luck! |
