I have a 2002 MDX, 73K ,Touring Black beautiful... but there's a BUT. Sometimes when I pressed the brakes to stop, the BRAKE and the BATTERY Light comes on for about one to two seconds at the SAME time.
I have taken the car back to the dealership (Carmax) and they have driven the car for several miles BUT cannot duplicate the same response. So they cannot diagnois...
After retrieving the car on 09/19 the lights came on 09/21 and today the 09/22...
Please any suggestions/comments???

How old is your battery?
Usually a *combination* of brake and battery light is either a bad battery or bad alternator.
If the battery is original I'd replace it.
Another thing you might want to ck is your serpentine belt-it drives your alternator. If the belt, its tension, and battery are good I believe your looking at an alternator. |

Not sure about how old the battery... I will definitely call the mechanic and ask if he checked the alternator.;)
Thanks for your input. |

| Go to Autozone and get a free battery test. |

If you are not sure about how old the battery is then replace it. Even if it tests good now it could fail at any time if it has a few years on it. Batteries do weird things when you are least prepared.

Your absolutely right. I phoned the mechanic at Carmax and ask how old the battery was... he response is, " I'm not sure, but we check the quality of the battery on our machine and readings are strong."
But you're right, it does not hurt to get a "free" second opinion.
Thanks. |
