Differential Fluid change Frequency - Click HERE for Original Thread

Redwing
I just got our new MDX so I have some time.
With the 01, we more or less knew the time to change the fluid - per the manual
With 07/08 etc, the vehicle "tells" you when to change it. That being the case how frequently have you had to change it?

Today's WSJ had a letter in the automotive section on this and I was surprised that it needed to be changed @ 7500 miles.
I'm curious since I live a bit from any dealer and I'll work with my local mechanic to change it.

I was thinking of making this a poll, but I couldn't figure what "miles" I should use.

TIA

my diff fluid change indicator came up around my 2nd oil change, about 12K miles... i do a lot of highway driving.
flicker
Normally it's done every 15,000 miles but the 2nd gen. First fluid change is scheduled on your 2nd oil change, mine was around 10,000 miles. Their reasoning is that there might be some loose particles in there that happened during the break- inn period.

So it sounds like the fluid change gets tripped by the second oil change.

I wonder if that schedule continues or if it defaults to 30k miles after that first change.
Thanks for the feedback. Hope we get a few more.

I wonder if this should be moved to the Maint forum.
Sorry, I wasn't thinking when I started it.:1pat:

See the post in Maintanance on this board, "B16 Maint code - necessary or ripoff?" page 5. It tells you how to re-set oil life minder, I am sure it is the same. Hope this will help.

it worked, thank you kgb.. happy mdx riding..

I thought you just hit the reset and hold it. This is described in the manual. Maybe that's just for oil changes, but I thought it was for any Maint. code.
sbilla
after reseting oil life, b16 is also gone
