Any guesses as to why they camo the front of the car?
My guess is that that they changed the grill. |

Interesting. Yeah the camo is to cover anything that is "unknown" at this point, although you can make out the new shield grille outline in one of the pictures.
Besides that the car looks identical, no new taillights, painted bumper, etc.
Those rims look similar to the 19" option, but they look like 18" size-wise. Maybe they'll offer different rims as well. |

Here's a terrible, quick photoshop I just threw together. Took the grille from the stock 2009 RL photo on Acura's website since the angle was almost aligned with the picture I just took yesterday and is in my sig.
Based on this photo I like the current grille better, wonder how the headlights will look?

I'm somewhat surprised at the lack of change shown in these 2010 spy photos. Looks like the same rear end and the same sheet metal. I wonder what they're going to do to attract repeat buyers? Neat electronic goodies? |

Now that I have gotten used to the shield, I think the other Acura grills look too wimpy on the MDX. |

The grille actually looks much better on the X than the RL. At least in pics, the RL and TL grilles look pretty fugly. The TSX ain't so bad in person.
As for the 2010, they are probably working parts of the car at a time. Acura pretty much always modifies at least the tail lights for the mid-cycle refresh. Other things I've been reading is that it will get the techno gadgets of the TL (smart key, weather, USB iPod, etc) but can't recall the source. |

Thanks, I was lucky to find a stock photo that was at least somewhat of the correct angle to pop into a photo I had.
I imagine there had to be some change under the hood or electronics -wise or it would be sorta reinventing the wheel to do testing like this on a car that has been out for 3 model years if it is unchanged.
I also imagine they'll make more changes, although if it's purely cosmetic they don't need to do it now which is probably why they used an older rear-end. If nothing else I thought they might use clear turning lenses. |

+1. Appears hideous the new grille. Doesn't sound like they're going to drop that new look anytime soon either.
For the lurkers & shoppers out there, this should give you a boost of confidence as to get the '08 or '09 now before the ugly 2010 hits the lot. |

| Man do I hate that grill. Took my car yesterday to the dealer for something. Took a gander at the new TL and the grill looks just as horrible in person as it does in the photos. It just reminds me of a parrot fish. |

This makes sense, if you consider the design evolution of the 1st generation MDX. We'll see a mild refresh of the grille (hopefully not for the worse), new wheels, maybe a different taillight treatment, and updated electronics. As far as the engine compartment is concerned, there might be a slight bump in power, but somehow I doubt we'll see the rumored diesel option quite so soon. If there's one coming, it'll probably wait until the 2011 model year.
Frankly, the only thing I want to see is iPod/USB integration, but it's really a moot point for me since I won't be getting a new car for at least another 8 years (I drive 'em into the ground). Still, to remain competitive, that's the least Acura can do. Even the most recent long-term test update in AutoWeek made a note of this glaring omission (never mind the the fact that they love everything else about the X).

The thing I hate about the 4G TL's grill is that the top of the grill does not line up with the top of the headlights. Thus visually and literally it looks "over the top".
If they had made the new TL light assembly bigger or the grill smaller so that the top of the grill is flush with the lights, I think it would have looked much nicer.
Lionspeed's chop makes me think the new Acura grill would look more at home in the 1G MDX.
I still think the shield grill fit's better with the overall muscular contour of the 2G MDX.
Anyway I just hope they don't put the new TL's overbite styling in the X's MMC. |

......agree with you on that one!!!!...When the new "shield" grille was introduced on the MDX, I was not too crazy about it (but I did not absolutely HATE it). Eventually it grew on me, and now I actually like it. That will DEFINITELY NOT be the case with the new design!!!
Their new signature grille (on the RL, TSX and now on the TL) is just soooo baaad, it makes me PUKE. It is really really disgusting......Kind of looks like a smiling OLD man who has lost all his teeth....yuck!!!!! :16:
For those of you who have the '07, '08 and '09 MDX consider yourselves very very very lucky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :eek: :eek: ....If I ever bought a 2010 MDX, it would only be on condition that that the grille can be replaced with a pre-2010 model!!

Why couldn't these nutjobs make the grille that is on the CURRENT MDX their signature gille, if they wanted a "bold presence"?? :rolleyes: :rolleyes: . That one is a GAZZZILLLLION times better than the dirty, disgusting, amazingly and shockingly hideous one they're trying to paste on the new models.
This new grille, which looks like a half-open mouth (with nothing inside that mouth) gives the vehicle (and its owner) a sense of cheapness that is enough to make one shudder with disgust!!! :eek: . It's got that Pontiac Aztec-like quality - a car that took the honors as one of the ugliest ever made - This new Acura grille is EVEN WORSE in my opinion!!!! :rolleyes: |
