I got 2008 MDX tech with PTG two weeks ago.
I am noticing that the images through the rear view mirror are TOO far away... I dont remember them to be so far away earlier.
Is there a setting etc. that I might have changed?
Any help is appreciated.

What are you comparing to? Two weeks ago vs now? I'm pretty sure there isn't any setting that can be changed. |

| Congrats on the new ride and Welcome! Maybe you are just getting use to the camera view. As far as I know, its a fixed camera, no zoom. |

Have you taken it to the dealer?
The view as seen by the rear view cameras on ANY vehicle leaves much to be desired. That is why I prefer the proximity sensors.

I will probably take it to dealer soon.
The MDX rear view leaves me very unimpressed. I prefer rear view in my infiniti...it had lane guidance linked to the front weel turn-angle and a distance from object indicator line.
I like the ride...am enjoying it. Extremely good balance. |

| I doubt the dealer will find anything wrong with it but worth a shot. The camera is definitely limited. Either for smaller objects (e.g. poles, kids) or to be able to back up with comfort more than you would without one in tight spots. |

Odd I feel quite the opposite. I find that the proximity sensors are worthless once you are within a foot of the object behind you. I can estimate better than that without a sensor. With a camera I can get within an inch of the object behind me. I find that much more useful.
For the OP asking about the camera view, you need to keep in mind that it is a wide angle lens on the camera. That is how it can capture a wide image at a short distance, so the view is always going to be distorted to some degree. It's like a fish eye lens on a photo camera. |

Thanks Alex...
I undestand that its a fish eye...
However the car would be standing right behind me and it appears to be way far off....
I must have done something to the setting as it was not like this when during first two weeks of ownership.
I plan to take it to the dealership sometime soon. |

As far as I can tell there are no settings for the camera. What you may want to do is take cloth moisten it with some water and then wipe down the camera. Also keep in mind that the appearance is not linear. As the items get closer they get bigger really quickly. It's not a linear progression. It's like the convex mirror on your car. |
