Hi all,
I tried zaino for the first time yesterday, it looked shiny to me but I don't think that's the best result from Zaino polish.
At night, I moved the car into my garage and under the light I can see some hard water spot in my hood and also fine sratches from automatic car wash. I thought Z-5 would eliminate all those scraches.
What I did was washed the car with Dawn and applied clay bar, Z-18 and washed again with Turtle car wash soap, dry and apllied Z-5.
When applying Z-5, I only use light pressure and wipe it once over the paint. I just wondering If I have to buff while applying Z-5 to make all the fine sratches go away.
After that, I let it haze for about 15.20' then I wipe it off and applied Z-6.
I applied Z-5 twice and Z-6 after apllying Z-5.
Anybody have any idea what did I do wrong ? |

Did you use Zaino_All_In_One or add ZFX to the Z5?
you have to do one or the other to get the polymer to bond to you paint.
wouldnt have bothered with the Turtle Wash, but I dont think it did any harm. The Dawn would have stripped everything off your paint to prepare it for the ZFX+Z5 or the ZAIO
also, the zaino (even the Z5) only fills in reallly fine lines; if they are deep, you'll need to use a polishing product

Thank you for your response,
I did add ZFX to Z5, I used Turtle wash to remove all the residue after applying Z-18 b/c appyling Z-18 left a lot of residue on the paint.
You mentioned about polishing product, is it Z-2 ? I haven't applied Z-2.
I understand that Z-5 is only fill fine scratches and during the process
I stopped at some of the big scratches, applied more pressure, going back and forth and I can see those scrathes gone but for the most part, I only applied Z-5 with little pressure and go over once. |

Given that Z-5 has NO abrasives in it, applying more pressure IS NOT going to make the scratches go away. It can only FILL IN very fine scratches.
You need a real polish, like Menzerna FPII or Power Finish, or Zaino Z-PC to actually remove fine scratches. |

Harsh lights will show you things you don't want to see. Don't use harsh lights when polishing, or you will go mad.
Buff as little as possible, since clear coat can be swirl marked with the polishing cloth.
Z5 will indeed fill in the swirls from prior bad washing. It takes several applications to do that. All in One takes off heavy swirls, and leaves smaller swirls.
Here is my suggestion: forget the Z2, the AIO and the Z6 Ultra Clean. Use Clear Seal instead. The shine is so wet that it will hurt those who gaze upon it. It looks shiny even when dirty from rain puddles. Even better, you spray and wipe it on, just like Z6. No buff, no touch. THen use Z6 after you wash as a buffing agent.
I have two coats of CS on top of several coats of Z5, and that thing is so slick, my mileage is better than a Prius. |

| To my experience, Z-5 would not remove fine scratches as effective as good old compound & the polisher. If you were to get one, make sure to get the random/variable speed like porter cable brand. |

My Prius is slicker than that...so...it's so slick that it actually makes gas...so...I have to empty a little out of the tank every couple days...so...I put the extra gas into my MDX...so...I haven't had to buy gas in years...so
Imagine Kristen Wiig on SNL as "Penelope" reading the preceding paragraph. |
