I am trying to post a 2 minute video from a DVD. I converted it to mpeg but only want a portion of it.

Any suggestions?

get a free MPEG splitter, you can download them and just use the free trial ones

"MPEG" video could mean video encoded with any one of at least four different codecs, so telling us "MPEG" doesn't tell us anything. DVD video is already MPEG-2, so if you just ripped it and didn't decompress and re-encode (transcode) it, you didn't do any conversion.

For an easy-to-use non-linear MPEG-2 editor, download the trial of Video ReDo. I use this all the time to edit high-definition MPEG-2 program streams. You might be able to do what you need with the trial. It has the advantage of only re-encoding right around the cuts, the rest of the video (everything between the outermost I frames) is untouched.

For something free, and more powerful, but (much) harder to use, look into AviSynth, VirtualDub, and ffdshow (you'll need all three). Be prepared for a steep learning curve.

Thanks. I don't know what format it is, but I'll take a look.
