Hi

Well, I stumbled my way here from google in search of snow tires. Glad to see there is a website for us MDX owners.

Anyways, to the point. I have a 2005 MDX and I'm looking for Winter snow tires and steel rims (alloys if I can find them cheap)

235/65R17 is the tire size. I'm favoring the Michelin X-Ice. I heard there was a newer version out called the X-Ice X12 (something like that) But, I can't seem to find it for my tire size

Also, can someone give me some linkies or advice on where to get some alloys?? for CHEAP or as cheap as I can get them. If worst comes to worst I would have to get those ugly black steel rims

Advice on where to buy both rims, and tires would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
kgb
There was a thread on winter tires on this forum earlier. So many people, so many preferences.
I personally used X-Ice and think that they are good tires but badly overpriced. Last winter I bought a set of 4 Toyo studless GO-2 and they are terrific! Got them from the www.carmodifier.com in Ottawa, paid $1000.00 Can. for everything including shipping and tax. I also got an 18 inch ones.
Costco usually has a good deal on X-Ice with the rebates at the beginning of the season, plus they offer the lifetime guarantee and free change over.

Thanks for the reply. Yah, the price I got from Costco was $235 bucks per tire and they don't sell steel rims. Which really bites.
I checked that other thread but, its mostly for the newer MDX's. Need to find some peeps with same tire sizes as 2005 MDX and what combinations they went with. I would still like to get Alloys. Please some more help would be appreciated.

I got a season pass at Whistler this year and will be going up there few times a week. Need snow tires bad.

I'm trying the Nokian WR, an all-weather tire this year. That way, I don't have to have two sets of wheels.

Hopefully they won't disappoint in the snow like the stock all-seasons did.

Kal-Tire has them on for $226 or so for the stock size, and they come with a 80,000 km tread warranty.

I have been there. But, seeing as this is a MDX forum with people having the exact same car as me. Seems much more logical to hear from others in this thread then some one from tirerack saying how great a tire is for his 1989 toyota.

I just purchased some Firestone Destination LE's which are highly ranked by Consumer Reports AND reviews on Tire Rack in snow traction (among other things). I will let you know how they perform in the white stuff after we get our 1st snowfall (I live in the Milwaukee, WI area). Thanks.

I got the Blizzak DM-Z3 (I think that's it, anyway), and they're great tires for the money. Way less than $235 (in fact, less than half that price!)
