I am thinking about trading in my '08 RDX for a '08 MDX. I have been reading this forum for some time now, and I understand that there has been an issue with the gas door alignment and it not working properly in the cold weather.
So, has anyone been able to successfully resolve this issue? I have looked at all the '08 MDX's on the dealer's lot today, and they all have literally warped gas doors, meaning not only do they have a bigger gap on one side, sometimes the top part of the gas door sticks out a little so that it is not flush with the rest of the surface.
Also, the TSB that has been posted here seems to be referring to 2007 MDX's, not 2008. Is there one for 2008 model as well?
Thanks very much in advance.
PS: Looked at 2009 models - they have the same issue.. |

I used to have a "slightly" misaligned gas door when I bought the MDX last year, but I noticed that after months of opening and closing it, the alignment somehow improved significantly that you cant see any misalignment now. I dont know if this is true with everybody else who originally have this problem... |

| I just purchased a new 08 and have noticed the same problem. I thought I'd wait for my first oil change and let the dealer take a look at it. I also nocticed that the door is plastic and not metal. |

well the TSB wasn't really about hte misalignment, it was more about hte door sticking.
My door used to stick, was repaired/replaced via TSB. It now works flawlessly. Yes there is still a bit of misalignment if you look at the gap on one side vs the other, but it pops open first time, every time now. |

My 2007 had the misaligned gas door. I had a minor accident where a car scraped the side of my MDX.
 I had to get the car fixed and that involved painting one side of the car. It was a pleasant surprise to find that the body shop realigned the gas door when the fixed the car. The only complaint is that while the door is now aligned and does not stick out like it used to, it is not centered in the opening. But I'll take a slightly off center door over one that sticks out. |

Mine is lower and set in slightly when it's really cold. Sometimes it can take a concerted effort to get it open when it's near zero.
I've not tried anything on the latch, what's worked for others on this? If there was a way to increase the pre-load on the latch that would do the trick. |
