Hi all,
Just put a deposit on a 2002 SS :)
Currently debating on if I should get the extended warranties. I am intending to keep the car for a good 5, 6 years or may be longer.
Couple of quick questions:
Did you buy extended warranties on your MDX? What was your ratioale?
Thanks for your info.;) |

A lot of good info in there. Should have done a search before posting a thread .... live and learn.
On that note, I'll defer buying the extended warranties until at least end of year 3, that's when the factory bumper-to-bumper warranties expire (Cdn model). There are still an additional 2 years of warranties on "major component", will it cover things like VTM-4, I would think that is major enough. Thoughts? Insights? Experience? |

| Some people like them some don't, I personally get them on my own vehicles, but the key is what you pay for them. They are money makers for the dealers, but if you get them a little over cost they can be a good deal for you. Besides Acura we have 12 other auto franchises, we do less warranty work at Acura than any of the others car lines we have, but if man makes it it can break, I just like the added security. Buying them at the time of purchase usually saves you money rather than buying them down the road a few years. |

| Anyone have an idea of the "real cost" of the extended warantee from the dealer? What is reasonable to pay over "cost", ie, what could one expect to pay for the warantee and be getting a "good deal"? Also, how much more can one expect to pay if they wait until they have the car about 3 1/2 years before getting the warantee? |

lester123,
I think dealer cost for a 7yr 100k is about $1450.00.
and a 7yr 75k is about $895.00 both with zero deductable.
Most dealers are going to make between $500- $900 profit on top of that......Good Luck!! |
