I currently have purchased a 2001 MDX and have put about
700miles on it. The current mileage is 1025 since new. The question I have is that the average mileage displayed on the Trip
computer show's only 13.6 consistantely. I have not driven it on any trips. Is this mileage correct? I thought that I would have got better mileage out of the 3.5L. I used to have a suburban with a 350 and the mileage was about the same in town.. If anybody has some insight on the mileage factor I would really apprieciate it
Thanks

We have only 300 miles on ours but set the Navi for auto reset on tank refill.
We're showing an average of 21.5, with 50/50 driving.....

Our trip computer auto resets itself when I refuel but the mileage remains anywhere from 13.6-13.9. Using 92 octane here in the
west coast.. I will have to get with the dealer and see if this mileage is actually updating properly. |

I have about 600 miles on my MX and the trip computer showed about 12 mpg for all city driving the first 40 or so miles, then improved to about 22 mpg on 2 subsequent hwy trips. My current tank using 50/50 hwy/city is averaging about 17 per the trip computer.
I double checked the mileage at fill up manually (I like to be sure the computer is right) and I got 18.5 manual vs 18.6 on the computer at first fill up & 20.9 manual vs 21.7 computer 2nd fill up.
I have noticed a variance of about .5 mpg inthe Lexus too, with the car computer figuring a higher mpg in both vehicles. |

Thanks for the responses. I will have to take the MDX on a road
trip soon. Maybe to the coast here in Oregon. Hopefully it will calculate the highway mileage. This will also give me an opportunity to calculate it manually with out waiting 2 1/2 weeks, As I only drive 3 days a week about 7.5 miles to work. |

| I got commuting average of 19.8 mpg. On the 700 mile trip I took, it was 23.1 mpg. So I'll say it's right on the factory estimate. |

People, do a search!!! Mileage is one of the most discussed topics. There are graphs, speed analysis, and many-many testimonials.
In a nutshell:
True city (as in NYC) driving - 11-13 mpg
"Suburban"-type town driving - close to advertised.
Highway driving below 70- 75 mph - at or even above advertized mpg - upto 25-26 mpg
Highway speeds above 75 mph - around 20 mpg
A/C and possibly heating take about 1-3 mpg.
Do a search!!! |
