Is it just me or is the cargo cover the most poorly designed thing in the MDX. It's like the engineers got the whole car done and said OOPS we forgot about the cargo cover - NO PROBLEMO we'll just cut some holes in each side and STICK one in.
I like the fact it's adjustable, removeable and all those other able's but it's chintzy, chintzy, chintzy. The dealership I bought from broke the first one trying to figure out how to put it in because the spring stuck.
Chintzy, chintzy, chintzy. I'm glad to have it, but Honda, oops Acura, really ought to work on this one.

I agree. The cargo cover on my old Explorer was much better (even though the SUV was not).
The MDX cargo cover would be fine if it wasn't for those annoying grooves carved inot the sides. It makes it very difficult to get the thing out.
Oh well, I still love my brand new baby. Wouldn't take my Explorer back for anything.

How about the cargo tray?
Is that worth the money or should I just buy one at Costco for about $20 ?!
How much is Tim's price on that anyway....slipped my mind.

I went for the Acura cargo tray to keep the fit and finish looking consistent. I also like them since I tend to put a lot of stuff in the back on ski trips, bike trips, Home Depot runs, etc., so it comes in handy and keeps everything clean.
I bought the cargo tray from from Tim at Hondacuraworld. Don't remember the price off hand, but it was definitely cheaper than my dealership.
I'm sure the Costco versions are fine as well, though I haven't checked them out on how well they fit the space.
On my old Explorer, I bought an aftermarket cargo tray and it fit great and the color was pretty close. |

Corrrect me if I'm wrong, the tray is designed to be used with the third row seat folded. If one decides to use those seats, the tray will all be curled up in the back. Fit and all is nice but with this tiny problem, I opted for the Cargo Liner.

Jun:
I checked: Tim's price on the tray is $89.70.
You are right, the cargo tray is designed to be used with the THIRD row down. I never keep the third row up...single, no kids, don't ski & don't haul stuff. Not sure if I really need it.
I might just pick up a Costco cargo tray for like $20.
I NEVER haul anything...but don't want to be unprepared when the time comes. Got to keep my baby clean in & out at all times.
I'll keep you informed of the prices & colors at Costco.
Thanx guys !

| I would have to agree, the cargo cover is not a great one. My Explorer had a better one. The first one I had was noisy, this one is quieter, but doesn't lay just right. I will order another when I go in at the 3K oil change recommended .... when I am getting bolts "re-torqued", and ticks "lubed", and I guess now also I will be ordering the replacement audio unit that is on backorder nationwide. I have developed the problems with buttons 4 and 5. Could anyone advise about the liner? Is it EASILY taken off/stashed ... when you want to quickly and periodically put up the back seats? (i.e., carpool, sports....etc.) I have just been using an old clear vinyl shower curtain liner. It can EASILY be rolled/stashed (unlike the cargo cover!!!) Any thoughts would really be appreciated. Thanks. |
