ACUDRIVER,

What kind of rims are those that you have? Their very nice, one of the nicer rims I've seen on SUVs!

Also, do you have any side shots of your X with the rims.

Thanks!!
nymdx
well i got my 20's and i wanna be in the club

Those wheels look nice, but I think I'll stick to stock and upgrade the interior... (DVD, MP3, etc.)

A third is to sell them here as "onesies" for people looking for a Full Size spare. The wheel sells for $200 and tire for $145 new. You may be able to get $150-200 each for a wheel and tire, used.

Don't rush into new rims without deciding for yourself if you'll void warranty.

nymdx,

May I ask what kind of rims are those? And rubber size?
Your X is looking very nice!

Big Gorilla
With the extra rubber on the ground I have noticed a pretty good drop in my gas mileage. Just wanted to see if you are experiencing similar. Before I would get about 15-17 around town and 21-24 on the road now it is about 13 average in town and 17-18 on the hi-way. I don`t drive slow out on the open road, maybe 65-75 so I know I suck sum up then. Pulling my Seadoos to the Colorado River going65-70 with some hills I get about 11 or so , not great.

Welcome to the club, Spinning rims, ooooooh ahhhh, love the rims
dont the 255/45 rub, anyways, it looks nice, hook up some video so we could watch them spin......

:1:

nymdx
why would 255 rub if i have 275/45/20 and they dont rub at all
jywong
255/45-20 is definitely a smaller diameter than 275/45-20. I have 295/40-20 (which don't rub). I thought someone put on 285/50-20? I seem to remember hearing that the fronts rubbed when turned all the way to one side, although I never heard how much, or if it interfered with parking, etc.

I love all your rims!!

I'm thinking about getting a nice set of rims but i'm thinking of gettin 19's.. I hear that the bigger the rims the more it'll throw off the computer and other things on the car, suspension, VSA, etc.....
Have you guys had any problems with noises and stuff on the front of the car?

thanks
THE GREEN X
i have nit had any problems with road noise. after i had my rims put on i drove 20 miles to orlado and it rode great. i do not think i would ever go back

Captain MDX
Nice rims gdot. Who's the manufacture and are those 20"????
gdot
Thanks Captain. And yes, they are 20's. For some reason, they don't seem to look as big as some of the other dubs here. It must be the wheel styling. The rims are 20"x9 ADR Maximus with 275/45 Goodyears.

Thanks Dubbed! Along with HID's, the mud guards and front windows are next on the list. I'm not sure about the front windshield though. :) How do you guys see at night?

i only used 54% on the windshield... it's not dark at all... but you have you have to go to a reputable place that really knows what they're doing,.. tinting the windshield has to be perfect

Whew...finally got the dubs on.
Thanks to TranMDX and everyone else with posts with dub-info.

Here's the info:

Tires 295/40/20 Pirelli Scorpions (Tire Rack $260 each)
Wheels 20x8.5 +35offset Armano Hamptons (DiscountTires $220 each)
Tire sensors (Tim at where-else, $16 each)

No longer feeling like I am in a minivan...PRICELESS!

The ride is not that harsh at all. Much better roadfeel too! Turns at speed are much more solid and stable. Makes the minivan/SUV feel much sportier. The pirellis are absolutely amazing tires! (The x-terrains were ok, and the integrity's on my old 2003 were terrible in dry and wet)

At first I was balking at the price, but had an itchy order-off-the-internet-because-its-cheaper finger one night...

Initially thinking of Falkens or Yokahama Geolanders, but couldnt find the size I wanted. The 275/45 falkens had s 2.4% speedometer error, and the Pirellis had only a 0.9% difference.

I'll let everyone know how the Pirellis wear.

To be honest, DiscountTires screwed up my initial order (I was waiting for Armano Dunamis for over a month, and they double billed my credit card), so I think they were trying to make up for it.

I was hoping to show the chrome mirror covers better, since some of you had emailed me about them. THe picture is not as clear as it should be because there is so much glare from the chrome stuff that the white balance of the camera is thrown off. :p
TranMDX
Looking good RL!!!

I did not see the chrome mirror until the last picture. I was admiring your shiny black MDX. I wanted to get black but the wife said no way!

I ordered my chrome mirror and will install next week.

What kind of tint did you use on the MDX? It looks like a mirror tint? Looks good!!! I'm getting my windows tinted next week too. Please let me know. Thanks.

We should have a Florida MDX meet!!!:2:

Fireblade, I like those rims. Very aggressive looking! They must look awesome when the wheels are actually in motion. Goes well with the monochrome theme.

I love the black as well, and I am now on a monochrome fetish. If only black wasnt so hard to keep clean!

You have a really sharp eye, because I tried to crop the NSX out of the picture and I think just a bit shows in one of the pix. You must be an NSX fanatic like me. (Its a 2001 Targa Spa Yellow).

Take care.

Hiya Rick-

Yes..am an NSX fanatic. I love everything about that sports car. Targas look so cool on an NSX. We have a neighbor that has a red one.

Yeah...my 20s look cool when it rides. I like it. The rims are from MKW. The model is MKW20.

TranMDX,
Its a mirror tint by Llumax. The display called it "Platinum Plus Mirror", and they didnt give a percentage transmission, but it was "medium". I am all for a Florida meet. Let me know when!

Love your wheels. Those look like the Armano Dunamis that I waited forever for. (They are not available anymore, so I got the Armano Hamptons, but I got a really good price because they wheel store screwed up).
linusMDX
Thanks Guys!...The red on the front rim is the refelction of my red shirt..LOL!!!...Just blingin so much!! ;).....How much tire pressure do you guys use? I just pushed mine up to 40psi...seems to be a better ride. The max posted is 44psi.

The tires are almost new!!...Goodyear GT2 275/45/20...The rims are also in mint condition. Looking to get $1500 for all four wheels and tires. Live in the bay area.

Within the next two weeks I will be buying an 05 MDX and want to install chrome wheels. I was told that replacing the wheels will disable the tire pressure monitoring system. Is that true?

If so, do I need to replace the sensors in each wheel? How much are those sensors?

Thanks.
ACX
i know after i replaced my rims w/ 20's, the TPMS light stays on. not a big deal since i never would really use it anyway.
Lacostacal
I just put 20's on my 05 MDX (pics soon) and took the sensors out of the stock wheels and put them in the new wheels.

Another option is to buy new sensors, around $80 for 4, but I think they are on backorder which is why I used the old ones.

Having a dash light on would bug me to no end.
tshadid
I take it the old sensors still worked.

I saw 3 MDX's on dubs in 5 minutes yesterday. One just finishing service at the dealer and two withing a few blocks of the same dealer.

I used to not see many MDX's on the road at all, now they're all over the place and even dubbed out. At least I'm still somewhat original on dub dueces :D

Dub was originally slang for $20 or anything worth $20. For example when buying a $20 portion of mary jane, you'd say "can I get a dub sack of weed?" or when you're playing cards, dice or domino's and you want to bet $20, you can "slap a dub on it". When 20" rims came out the name stuck.

Now can you enlighten me where the word nomenclature comes from? :D

The ride is much better the new wheels. Driving with the tires that came with the MDX, I felt like I was going to bounce off the road. Now it is definitely a stiffer ride and the handling is much more responsive, but not too harsh.

Im going to bring this thread back to life :)

Anyways, hi guys. This is my first post. I own an Escalade, but my dad owns an '03 MDX. Yesterday we threw on some 20's on his X. Hope you guys like it. I'm usually on the cadillac forums, but I wanted to join here to check our your rides, as I've always love MDX's as well.

You guys got some nice lookin' suvs there. Keep up the great work. Here is my dads MDX on 20's we put on yesterday, and my escalade on 24s. Hey, i'm only 23 yrs old, so i'm happy with my Escalade and yes I paid for it myself. lol.

P.S. I am also curious. If my dad wants to change his 20s to 22s. what size 22s should he go for that wont cause any rubbing??? TIA
