DubbedSSmdx
Just for the record... For all the "hoi polloi" out there that have said that "twenty's" or "dubs" are for Escalade's, Expedition's, and Navigator's only!!!??!? The 2002 BMW X5 4.6is comes STOCK with DUBS!!! It goes to show that DUBS have revoluntionized the market and that there are people out there that do believe BIGGER is better! Regardless... to each his own. To all those that hate on us ridein' on DUBS "it costs you nothing, pay us no mind!" Keep MDXin' fellas!!!!

Manahan,

Nice wheels, your X would look much better without the BSM IMHO.
Manahan
Yeah...you're probably right about the BSMs, but unfortunately is was one of my negotiating tools for the wheels since the wife wanted the BSMs.
MDXtrous
Manahan,

I think it your X would also look nicer with painted mud flaps. I did mine for $10 each at a local body shop.
Manahan
Yeah...Painted mudflaps is my next option. Just have to find a cheap but good enough shop in my area to do it.

Hey Harry do you have any more pics of your white mdx... interior and exterior... i just put a deposit on a white mdx myself... it should be here in august... and why didnt you go with some chrome rims... i got my eyes on a pair of 20's... rimshop.com has some exellent prices on 20' chrome rims... and if you do have more pics please post... i would like to seem some more views... just to keep my anticipation up... thanks
Harry
DubbedSSmdx
Thanks for including me, very thoughtful considering I do not have 20s.

Nice Wheels Guys

mymdxiscoming
The Moda's have a platinum looking coating that goes very well with the white .
You know what they say, beauty is in the eye etc. My choice is just a personal one. I am not a big chrome fan, however they would look good on a white vehical.
mymdxiscoming
oh no dought the rims look great with the TW... i was just curious... but could you post more exterior pics... i'm just plaing that groupie role until i actually get my own MDX...

DubbedSSMDX,

I want to be a member of the club, looks great. Do you notice a decrease in your fuel effeciency or performance due to the extra weight? What's your next mod going to be?
DubbedSSmdx
jywong

yeah you're right about the zero's... they are double the price. some people say that at this tire size all of the tires are created equally and that you're paying for name. however, i've finally ordered myself a new set of tires and i've went with zero's too. haven't got them yet but i'll let you know how they go. the zero's now come in a new tire size that hasn't been made yet by any other manufac, that i'm hoping will work a bit better for the mdx - 265/45/20.

the problem you seem to be talking about may be the tracking problem. you have to remember that you have some HELLA wide tires on now. with that said you're going to feel more of the road versus the ride with the stock skinny tires. 295 tires are what they use on the prowler and other super/exotic cars. like i said, riding on dubs isn't for everyone. another thing i've heard about the zero's is that the tread is very aggressive thus making it track even more than normal. hope fully i'll be able to give better comparison's when i get the new zero's on. if your car is balanced and aligned but only seems to pull occasionally, i would tell you to notice when this happens and the condition of the road that you're driving over. if that is the case i can tell you that it's the width of the tire that causes you to feel the nuances i the road. i'm not tire expert and would love to hear other's input on the tracking/alignment concerns.

regarding performance changes. I would be naïve to say there aren’t any changes versus stock. However, with the 20 inch wheels my mdx is still very quick, handles like a sports car (wide tires just love those turns, and with the wider stance body roll is reduced), and fuel economy is a bit lower especially with city driving stop and go.

Again I can’t stress enough that going with twenty’s isn’t for everyone. I feel somewhat responsible for everyone on this board that goes with twenty’s. honestly, if you’re into the look and feel of twenty’s you will go for it and know and except the pros and cons that come with it – on the other hand there are many others that don’t care for them; may appreciate the look of twenty’s but will not compromise that stock performance.

dubbed,

It doesn't pull, just at a certain speed the steering wheel will have a slight shimmy back and forth. I have an appointment with a high end balancing and alignment company on Thursday, so we'll see if that fixes it. I've had actually no problems with tracking.. even the guy that sold me the tires warned me that it might tend to pull a little. I'll let you know how things turn out!

By the way, is this message in the right thread??

1. Cheaper
2. Smarter
3. LD1s 4500 and Diablo viennas 3000 katanas 3000 thats with tires
4. There made of the same quality

RIMS are RIMS, there in the thousands, plus tires which would cost you a grand all around,

Yea.. but...
Lowenhart is Lowenhart, Diablo is Diablo and Katana is Katana.

Bmw is Bmw, Ferarri is Ferarri and Honda is.... Honda. :)

Lowenhart LD1 are nice ass rims.... bling blingin.

I just purchased the Giovanna Corsica's with a Chopper SP6 spinning kit.
DUBYA123
You know, when I was buying my 20s at superbuy. Ive met up with the owner of the Chopper Wheel spin, he was just starting off and installing the spin by himself, I didnt know he would blow up like that.

Anways, yah your right, I wasnt really into the wheel thing, I didnt even know wheel names when I bought mine, if i had known about knockoffs I would of bought

All in all They achieve the same effect, (the turning head effect) Im not going to argue with u,

I still have my chrome, but Im going to take them off because Black chrome is in, on a black MDX it would sweet,

but Im waiting for Knockoffs, because there cheaper?

you know you can have centercaps to 20inch wheels made custom,
cost around 100s to make for 2

A place that makes it in LA is 310 motoring, I was going to put a W on the Centercap, but it looked to much like a Volkswagon symbol

flex4life,

I believe DubbedSSMDX has Eagle GT II's, but is thinking about the Scorpion Zeros for his next set.

I got those Pirellis in a 295/40-20 from Kauffman Tire for about $300 each after tax, but that's an all-inclusive price (valve stems, centering rings, road hazard, etc).

Joey
DubbedSSmdx
my old tires were the Eagle HP Plus 295.40.20 (okay tire)
new tires are the Pirelli Scorpion Zero 265.45.20 (great tire!, perfect size for the MDX) btw this is a new size that just came out...

The ride is much better... much smoother compared to the ride with the 295.40.20's, also there isn't that harsh tracking problem with the wider tire. The stance isn't as wide and agressive though, guess that 30mm makes a big difference!
DUBYA123
i have the 295 which is in your last picture, the ride, is cool on the side streets, but the freeway is kinda harsh, but it looks way cool, the 295's had a great sidewall the though, so many times I had skidded curbs, but the sidewall protected the rims from getting scratches, I will probably replace to 265's, once the tires run down..

to keep pictures large, i just reduce the quality of the jpeg when saving. you can tell by looking at the quality of the picture.

re: going 19's or 20's it's all a matter of preference. IMO the ride with 20's on 265.45.20's is pretty close to stock... i bit firmer but not a great deal considering that you've gone 3 inches bigger over stock, handling is improved, and this is truly one way to "customize" and make your MDX your own... it's not for everyone, but then again not everyone customizes their cars.

re: keeping the scorpion yellow, i've only had the tires for 3 months so i can't really tell you about the wear and maint of it... will keep it in mind though. when i first got the tires put on i didn't really like the yellow logo but i do now (funny thing is that i asked them to put the tires on the other way to show all black and they put it on with the logo side showing by accident, glad they did though - happy with the look)

I have never gotten new rims before so I have a real newbie type question....if I go to buy new rims for my MDX (which I haven't bought yet but am about to) what happens to the rims supplied by Acura? Do they pay anything to take em? Or do they just take em from me or say "Here, you want em, keep em." Please let me know, thanks!

Also, does anyone know a good website to look at rims for the MDX?
shootist
One option is to keep them for winter.
Another is to sell them on Ebay.

A third is to sell them here as "onesies" for people looking for a Full Size spare. The wheel sells for $200 and tire for $145 new. You may be able to get $150-200 each for a wheel and tire, used.

Don't rush into new rims without deciding for yourself if you'll void warranty.
