I know that you have been around here forever, si you must have had a 2001 mdx...
Didn't you?
And if you did, did you trade it in? Did you take a bath on the
trade in?
And more importantly have you notice any reduction in the wind noise due to the roof rack or is there no difference? |

WOW...that is just TOOO Monochromatic for me...Too much white. The monochromatic look was SOOOO in in the early 90s. EVERYTHING has to be painted...
Well its a nice looking MDX nevertheless. |

| The Car is nice! Very Clean. I like the painted "everything" it makes the vehicle look Really Clean. I just installed my fender flares (painted to match SS) I'll be posting more pics of my MDX when I put my rims back on. Its winter so the 20's won't handle quite as well as the stock Snow tires so I took them off. |

AH-HA!!! Those OEM Acura wheels and tire combo DO WORK! |

| Kudos for the mono look. Looks like a "Special Edition" X. Pop some 18 x 8's (sorry dubbers), and 255 55 18's and the look will be complete! Nice job! |

You missed the roof rack [still black]. Not sure if I'm kidding, might work!!
You did a very nice job, good looking X [heck, very good looking X]. |

Colmo,
Your white X looks beautiful. My salesman called yesterday and said my white X has arrived. Yahoo.... So your pics came at a great time, gave me more ideas on how to accessorize the X.
Did you install these items yourself? If yes, anything that was difficult to install? I'm curious about the splash guards (remove tires for ease of install?), the fender flares, and rear tail deflector (feel uncomfortable about drilling holes in X).
I was going to order running boards for the X, but after seeing your X, I'm thinking about side steps. What was your reason for selecting the side steps?
I like the tinted front windows...what did that cost?
Is there noise from the front air deflector or sunroof visor when driving at high speeds?
Sorry for all the questions...I'm very impressed at what you did to your X...
Thanks... |

Sorry for the delay in replying, but just got back in town from California.
Jorge - No, its a 2002 and I got in late Dec 01. I have been around awhile as this forum was great for getting info needed to make decisions especially regarding accessories.
MARFONG - Regarding the accessories, I had all, but the Form Fit air deflector and the modified Gold RL Center Caps installed by the dealer - that way they have the same warranty as the vehicle. Also, I was able to negotiate reasonable prices for those I didn't get from Tim. It was Tim's prices that helped in the negotiations. The front trim/tail gate deflector/fender flares were painted by Tim's body shop (Great Job), but installed by my local dealer. I understand the Gen Mgr and Sales Mgr came to look at the vehicle - they hadn't seen one done this way.
As to the side steps - I like the subtle, but stated look vice the running boards, plus the side steps are metal and I feel they will hold up better over time.
The front tinting was thrown in free by the dealer.
I haven't noticed any wind noise from the front air deflector, maybe a little from the sunroof visor, but it hasn't bothered me.
I love the vehicle and I am sure you will love yours too - Good Luck. |

| best of luck with the new wheels, the picture almost looks like you chromed the wheels but I guess its the exposure on pic. |
|
|
| dbptx1 |
| Thanks. Actually, they are chrome. |
|
|
| paul123 |
| Did the dealer do the job or did you have them done yourself? They look great, try to post a direct pic of them I bet everyone woudl like to see. BYW how much did it run to do all 4? :D |
|
|
| dbptx1 |
They started at $ 1,895.00. Called another Acura dealer in town
= $ 895.00. Called my guys back and told them I would pay $ 895.00 ONLY, or I will place order for same vehicle at the other dealership. They told me $ 795.00. They have a local guy here that keeps them in stock in chrome - he gets your wheels and sends them off for chrome and repeats the process. |

| They look great, I'm considering now myself. they look amazing!! |

| How dark did you go on the tint, what percentage? and what type of tint? |
|
|
| dbptx1 |
| Thanks. The tint is 30%. It's called Charcoal - not sure of the brand. |

Colmo,
Thanks for your response...Now, I'm leaning toward getting side steps for my White X. Are they the Manik brand? Did you get them from Tim? I've seen other side steps that were not as suttle looking as yours, that's why I was originally considering running board instead of side steps, but I like the look of your side steps.
Did you get weather mats and which brand if you did? Tim said the Acura mats are black. I'm not sure how they would look in a white X. I think the Weatherguard brand of mats comes in a beige color, but I don't really need such a heavy duty mat for my No. Calif. area.
BTW, we got our X on Saturday...love driving it. Great vehicle. Now, I know why so many of the mdx owners are so happy!
I also asked the dealer about tinting the front side windows, but he said it was not legal for a dealer to do it, that I could how it done on my own.
Thanks. |

Marfong:
I have seen some good quality weather mats in Costco in Beige, Black and Grey. Take a look at them to see if you like them.
I bought clear mats from Walmart ($15/set of 4) and put them on top of my existing mats. They certainly look good. You can see the color of the mats beneath them too. |

Colmo,
I am presently wrestling with the decision about side steps versus running boards. While I don't necessarily like the industrial look of running boards, I think that they may offer more support when reaching up to the roof for attaching skis. Do the side steps offer enough of a surface that you would feel comfortable standing on them in wet conditions such as I am thinking? Also, am I correct that those are the factory and not the Maniks?
Thanks |

You are correct the side steps are factory. They are a little closer to the body than I would like, but they are real sturdy. I stand on them to wash the top of the MDX, but I can reach better if I stand on them with the door open. Hope the info helps on making your decision. |

| You know that you can get chrome center caps for those chrome wheels. I got some for my wifes 3.2 TL wheels and they look much better than the stock ones. |

Hey dbpt:
I sprung for the chrome wheels as well, but in KC they cost me a grand. Oh well, still worth it if you plan to keep the stock size. I think they look much better than the originals! I have a silver touring on order, chrome wheels, side steps, just like yours. Enjoyed your pics! |

One possible low-cost option for those of us that need to reach the roof occasionally but don't like the look of permanent running boards - Tire Mounted Step ($39.95 at Proline) Actually, I paid more and got the same thing from Nissan (with their logo emblazoned on it).
I find this works well for me so I wanted to throw it out as another possibility.
