Who named your X ? - Click HERE for Original Thread

roadrunner
I may have to rename my X. Since day-one I dubbed her RoadRunner in honor of my grandson being born in New Mexico (state bird) and because I love the cartoon. The way that VTEC loves to goooooooo .... it seemed to fit.
But this last week my 2 year old grandson came to visit and immediately upon spying my SS MDX in the parking lot, he pointed at it and shouted "Gwampy's Twuck". Now I'm finding that name so irresistable that I may have to rename the vehicle.
So that made me wonder the following:
1. Does your X have a NAME ?
2. WHO named your X ?
3. WHY was that name chosen ?
and
4. (OPTIONAL) RoadRunner or Gwampy's Twuck ?
The little trouble maker is shown below (any excuse to show off the grandson).

Well, my DX's name is GiGi Babe (Granite Green Base) ;)
I named it. My wife has a close friend and her younger brother calls her Gigi. My wife (then-girlfriend) always complained I pay as much attention to my cars (maybe even more) and always 'accused' me of having 2 girlfriends :D Since now I'm married and kinda cannot have a girlfriend, I decided I can have a sister! ;)

as much as that sounds like a daffy, it doesn't sound as cool as Roadrunner!

1) Zelda
2) we both did...
3) thinking of a name and it just came up... kinda spunky and different, or other car's names were Zoey, Cedric, and Moe, our X just feels like a girl.
4) I think that the next time the cutie comes by, he would have watched enough cartool and will think that RoadRunner is a cool name!
GatorGreg
1) Angus.
2) I did.
3) The first things that came to mind when I was trying to come up with a name for my black 'X was "Black Angus Beef" :p and the "Back in Black" (this was my first black vehicle in about 15 years) album by Angus Young/ACDC. Angus! Angus! Angus! :D

1. Does your X have a NAME ?
Big Red

2. WHO named your X ?
Wife (Kay)

3. WHY was that name chosen ?
It's the biggest vehicle we've ever owned, and it's, you know, RED! (Her first choice was "Big Red One", but that was too bulky.) We have another Acura, so we couldn't just call it "the Acura", and "the MDX" is awkward to say fast.

We're still not sure about her gender, but (as you can see), I tend to think of her as female. (Maybe it's the subtle curves as opposed to the manly bulges of an X-Terra.)

4. (OPTIONAL) RoadRunner or Gwampy's Twuck ?
I like RoadRunner because it is easier to say. However, my kids named my M-I-L's '68 VW bus the "BooBoo Wagon", and for 25 years that's what everybody in the family called it.

1. "k.d."
2. Me. It's my truck, after all.
3. I name my vehicles after women from the same country. My Saab, from Sweden, is named Inga. k.d. Lang is a cool Canadian, like my MDX, so there you go.

Hi, I'm just wondering whether any of you guys have named your MDX (you know, with girls names). If yes, can you share what it is? I named my X Leslie for personal reasons. Thought this would be an interesting thread
Louinma
I've named my 2002 TL The Red Rocket for obvious reasons, my wife on the other hand has named her 2004 MDX Brucie, after her Brother, since she used the male voice for the Nav system. When she was testing the female voice she considered calling the X Ruth, after my mother in Law.

Your right, this could be an interesting htread ...........

Being born in 1960 I recall just one car my father had that had a V8. It was a 1965 Mustang which we had for a long time. My mother drove a 1959 VW bug purchased brand new in New Orleans for $1,200.00. They even showed me the bank check when I was older. That VW bug became my high school car. It was in the family for over 21 years !
In 1971 my father bought the first Toyota Celica shipped to the USA in 1971. It was a 4 banger. Ever since my father stayed with 4 cylinder engine cars, so did I growing up. In 1998 I bought my first V6 HONDA. It was the newly designed Accord Coupe that offered it's first mass produced V6. FABVSIX was born. It's short for "Fabulous" VSIX ! I'll never buy another 4 banger ! ;) ;) ;)

Ours is Starlite silver. It's big and wide and I think it looks like a Rhino. It fits!

1) Blackura
2) Me
3) Cuz it's a Black Acura
4) RR. As cute as "Gwampy's Twuck" is today you must remember that eventually, your grandson will grow up to be TOTALLY embarrassed that he couldn't quite pronounce it correctly and you'll scar the poor kid for life. :)

I need some help in naming my new MDX. Yes, this is foolishness but my family and I have always named our cars. It seems to help us get attached to them. The car I learned to drive on was a yellow Cutlass named The Bananamobile. My last car was a gold TL named Sammie. I'm drawing a bit of a blank but am considering Stevie as a possible name. I've heard the MDX compared to a Rhino but hate to call it that ("Rhinomobile" is atrocious), although the shape and nose is reminiscent, mine is also black. I already love this car so please be kind.
Any ideas?

Never heard on anyone naming their automobile. Nos if it was a boat.

We call ours "the blue car", or "the big one". This is in contrast to our '03, which we called "the silver car".
