Just wondering what everyones opinion is on the quality of the MDX? I remember when the CL came out a lot of people were having problems with the CD player not workin, rattles, squeaks, misaligned body panals etc.
Anybody have any problems with the MDX?
From the looks of it the build qulaity on the models I saw was first rate with flawless fit and finish.
Also I think that this is the first time that MotorTrend has given away a "of the year" award to a automobile that hasn't been advertised in their magazine. Every other winner (Tundra, LS, RX300 etc) had all been advertised a huge amount, and a lot of the winners had full page ads in every issue.
So I guess the MDX is truly the best suv on the plant in my opinion and a lot of others people's.
Thanks

I agree. I had mine for a couple of weeks now, and had no problems at all. Not even small ones! Now, let's all knock on wood, please. Plastic wood will do :)
I am going off for a long trip (1000 miles return) tomorrow and will post my opinion of the truck when I get a chance to plug into the NET. |

Someone told me today that the Acura MDX was introduced in Japan or somewhere in Europe first for about a year or so.
No problems have been recorded overseas since it's release.
Honda reliability proven ONCE AGAIN !!!!
At least that is what I heard.
Good to hear that the 1st year was not here in the USA.
I guess we don't have to worry that much, right?!
OK...((knock on plastic wood))...

MDX just came out. The MDX was designed just for the US and Canada. Honda will not export the MDX oversea's. So you really did buy a 1st year model, but don't worry about it like you said its a Honda and Honda put in over 4 years of research and development into the MDX with very high quality standards.
Thanks and enjoy!!

That's what I figured.....rumors...gossip......
It never ends...........
Bottom line, Acura = Honda = BEST CAR/SUV on the planet.
Hence my screen name: Acura4Life.
I've owned American cars, and they were the biggest pieces of sh*t. I will NEVER buy American again. I've even owned brand new American cars that were sh*t too, constantly bringing it to the dealer !!
I am with the Honda/Acura family for good now.
Acura4Life !!!

| I've had my MDX for not quite two weeks. Have literally spent hours going over every nook and cranny looking for misfitted parts, paint blemishes, things that don't work the way they should, and the list goes on and on. Can't find one single solitary thing wrong with this vehicle. The odometer just turned over 1K today and I could not be more pleased with my purchase. My MDX is by far the best vehicle I have ever owned (it's also the 23rd new vehicle I have purchased over the past 40 years). |

That's nice to hear! (I hope you didn't have Ford Tempos all your life). But seriously, I agree, I like it too. |

Two mildly off-topic sidebar comments...
I'm really looking forward to hearing some of the Thanksgiving weekend "road test/break-in" reports mentioned earlier. Actual reports from actual owners are great to read, so be sure and post!
I'm on the fence with the MDX right now -- should I cut my three-year 1999 CL lease short or ride it out to Feb 2002? Should I get the first model year or wait for a refined 2002 model? Will I be able to convince the wife to go for it, if *I* choose to go for it? :-) The seesaw continues... |

| I went to Big Bear last Thanks Giving. It took about 210 mile round trip from my home. There were about 90 miles total drive in the mountain road. My MDX had 6 adults and luggages inside but it ran very good. When we came back my friend' Explorer got break pad burned since we went down from the mountain, but my MDX had no problem. My friend felt great when they seated in the second row although there were lots of slaloms in the mountain road. On the other hand, the Acura's Navi system is very precise and helpful in helping me find the all the Big Bear's resorts I wanted to go. I love my MDX. |

| We took our TP/Navi on a TG trip of over 1,000 miles. Flawless. Quiet and smooth at speed, nice handling and our computer said we got 20-22mpg in pure hwy driving and anywhere from 13-16mpg in pure city. Someone else posted how their actual mileage was better than what the computer said. I hope that's right. We did note some wind noise, then realized it was because there was almost no tire or other noise to hear. Ample passing power. The navi system is great (we were in so. Cal.) took us everywhere we wanted to go. One day we wanted to hit the three closest shopping malls. Punched in the phone nos. for each from the phone book. Navi plotted the routes to all 3 starting with the closest. Time to go to the next mall but it's 5 p.m. and I-5 is a parking lot? No problem. Punch "minimize fwys" and you get a street route. Have to take a detour? Go off route and simply press "recalc." and you have a new route. We took along the optional cargo separation net figuring we'd need the verticle space with all the luggage and goodies. Wrong. Our pile never rose much more than a few inches about the bottom of the windowline. If you have 5 pass. and cargo, this beats a minivan for room. Most minvans only seat two in the middle row, so if you have five, you've got the have the third row in place. Not so good for luggage unless you like it sitting around you. Does it sound like we like our MDX? You bet! |
