| Has anyone installed a trailer hitch (from Acura, or aftermarket) on their MDX? I need a hitch for a utility trailer, but hate to spend the $ for the trailer towpackage which includes tranny and power steering coolers I really don't need. |

| I ordered a trailer hitch from Tim and the hitch itself is not a problem because you only have to screw few bolts, but the hard time comes when the instructions tell you that you have to take the grille and the huge bumper down in order to install 2 pipes (coolers) in between the radiator and the bumper. I am going to install just the hitch and going to ask the dealer how much they want for the coolers. Hope this help you. I have the intallation paper but dont know how to put those in this message. |

| MJaime- How much did you pay for the hitch kit? Can you buy the hitch alone? I got a price of $185 for a bolt on Draw-Tite hitch, but they won't be available for several months. The supplier, Hitchweb, has a weld on setup available now that they will install for the same price, but they are located in the Los Angeles area and I'm on the East Coast. I really don't think you need the coolers for around town use or for a small trailer, but if you are towing a boat on the highway its a good thing. |

I agree that you probably don't need the coolers for limited use.
What does YOUR owners manual have printed in it? If it tells you up to 2000 lbs you don't need coolers, then you can get acura to pay for coolers if you add the hitch (ACT NOW).
If not, and you have any kind of drivetrain problem, Acura can give you a significant hassle on not having coolers. Although federal law requires that they prove your actions caused the failure they are refusing to warrant, in practice you can get screwed.
For $500 from Tim, plus one hour to have the dealer do the coolers, it is cheap insurance should a failure occur.
