I have ordered and expect to take delivery of my MB MDX w/T&N in two weeks....can't wait.

This forum is GREAT and I have sent Tim a request for accessory pricing. However I have some questions on some, actually most, of the accessories and hope that some of you can provide answers based on your experiences. Thanks in advance....

MOONROOF VISOR - I have noticed that the outer edge is resting on the paint. Does this damage the paint over time? Is the visor easy to remove for detailing?

GOLD EMBLEM KIT - Is this easy to install? Is the gold stuff as durable as the chrome stuff?

REAR SPLASH GUARDS - Are these pre-drilled and installed using existing holes? Or do I have to drill some holes?

TRAILER HITCH PACKAGE - I plan to have the dealer install this...any comments?

AIR DEFLECTOR - Is this just cosmetic or does it really help to keep the bugs and small stones from damaging the hood paint? I have also heard that you must TAPE this on...any comments please?

WOOD SHIFT KNOB - Is this easy to install?

REAR TAILGATE DEFLECTOR - I like this item but don't think I'll like the black color. Does anyone have any experience with painting this kind of item. Also, does it rest on any of the painted surfaces, I'm concerned about chafing.

WOOD-GRAIN STEERING WHEEL - My wife really wants this item but I have some questions...IS IT WORTH IT? Can this be installed by a reasonably competent do-in-your-selfer or is installation best left to the dealer with special tools?

Again, great forum, and thanks to all for your comments.

Ray

As I know, The Visor is easy to remove & re-install. On rear guards, one of the hole is not pre-drill, but you are easy to scrow in with correct tools.

There have some new photo posted on Yahoo MDX Owner Club, you can get some idea over there.

Remember, do not install steering wheel by yourself because of airbag issue. I rather purchase the parts from Tim & install by local dealer, should be cheaper then quote by sales people (mostly). I feel unconfatible on unreasonable markup / bad experience everywhere !!!

Thanks F2 for your reply. My wife and I can't wait to get our MDX, MesaBeige with Tour and Navi.
Enjoy you ride like everyone here.

I hope we could stop those unreasonable markup soon.

I was told that the WOOD Shift Knob just screws on.
:D

Mud guards were easy, just remove the rear wheels. Cake after they are removed. Very tight & difficult if you leave the wheels on.

I'm going to get the Steering wheel, in time, definitely have this DEALER installed. Air bag issue is very difficult and important. Expensive, but what a luxary touch it adds to the cabin. SWEET !
Thanks for your replys, it really helps. Just got confirmation of my VIN number today and the dealer says that I should have my MDX next week. CAN'T WAIT! My wife and I are planning a long cruise the following weekend just to break it in.

BTW do any of you have any experience with painting the rear deflector? I'm not sure if the black deflector will look good with my Mesabeige MDX. Comments?
I was thinking about getting the CL Type-S shift knob. Does anyone know if it will fit the MDX's stem?
