Yhlin,
I also have a white X, about 2 months old now. Have been thinking about using Zaino to wax. Does it really make a noticeable difference? White usually does not shine like dark colors or metallic colors. I got some Zymol from Costco and am thinking about using it to wax.
BTW, where did you get your Zaino? Is there a local distributor? |
|

Fireblade6: You really got sharp eyes. I thought no one will
notice the "other" X :) Yeap, they have a '01 SS Touring.
Unfortunately they don't wash/wax their car as often as I do
hence I tried my best to hide it :D
MARFONG: Zaino doesn't show a lot of difference on TW. But
I'll still go for it for couple of reasons.
1. "zainoed" surface feel really good even my wife make fun
of me that I don't touch her that way :D :D :D
2. It's much easier to clean the car, especially on the tough
stain, tar, and bug juice.
3. It lasts longer than the other products I had used before.
I don't claim that I used lots of different products .. just my
experience.
BYW, I joined the zaino group buy about one or two months
ago. I think may be there's another one coming up real soon. |

yhlin,
Just noticed that you got your X within 2 months of your order date. How did you get so lucky? I ordered mine in 7/'01 and got it delivered on 2/22/02 from Hopkin's Acura in Redwood City. Did you have to go out of the area, or pay above MSRP, or have forced accessories?
My X looks just like yours. Except, I put on Manik side steps instead of the factory side steps. And I don't have the rear air deflector.
Have you thought about tinting the front side windows? Many fellow MDX'ers have done it. The only other accessory I'm thinking of adding is the moonroof visor....because it is very noisy when the moonroof is open.

We got it from Sunnyvale Acura and paid MSRP plus the
forced/overpriced "protection package" ($490 w/ cargo
tray, wheel lock, mud guard), which is probably $230
higher than if we got these from Tim.
As for moonroof visor, I don't think we open up the moonroof
a lot so the noise is not brothering us ...
I never thought about tinting and front side window, though.
That sounds like a good idea :) What'll be the cost then? |

Go to Mr. Tint at St. Tomas Exp. and Stevens Creek, next to the car wash.
Both side fronts for about $70.
Max allowable tint is 70% (light transmission). They use Solarguard. I plan to do it as soon as I get mine. |
|
|
| yhlin |
Thanks, I'll go over there and check it out? For the front,
what's the best tint level in your opinion? |
|

Go for the max, it wont be that dark and still be legal.
I was over at Valley Fair and talked to a rep. there in one of those kiosks. Sounded like a great deal to me. He had samples, the max for the front sides is not very dark, believe me. But it definitely helps.
Let me know how it turns out! |

Thanks to Tim. I now have the hitch trailer, PS/ATF coolers installed.

yhlin,
Very nice. I've always liked the white!! Have you considered painting the mud flaps body color since you've matched the deflector already? I was able to do mine for $10 each, and I think it would add a little more flare!! |
|
|
| yhlin |
I was thinking about painting the mud flaps but don't
know the durability for long run. There're some discussion
on this board about the issues, though.
Even Tim is not offering this :(
On the other hand, black mud flaps doesn't look bad together
with black side step ... ;) IMHO |

| Mine are holding up well. It's been 4 months, and no issues... |

my husband's been wanting to get a hitch for a bike rack and bike rack for our new X, and he's been talking about something like it seems like you have. What hitch did you get? If not the OEM, do you anticipate any warranty problems? Can you fold down the bike rack and access the rear hatch with the bikes on the rack?
thanks!

Thanks to Tim (again) for the hitch trailer (and PS/ATF coolers).
These are geniue Acura parts so I don't see there's any problem
with warranty, especially I also got PS/ATF coolers installed. :)
It's not recommeded for the bike rack (Yakima SuperROC) to
be folded with the bikes on the rack. However, Yakima offers
another one "Rock'n Gate"? which should give you what you
want. Of course it'll be more expensive, though.
By the way, we tested the rack with four bikes mounted yesterday.
It's real solid even I was driving 75MPH on the high way ... :D |

Had I gone back to page one of this thread part of my question would have been answered! LOL! It's just that OEM hitch with coolers is so dang expensive if all you want to use it for is a bike rack. Thanks for the info on the Yakima and models though! It look great, good to know it performs well too. :)
