So we have talked Baseball and the D-Backs, Football and the Pats, Hockey and the Avalanche, the NCAAs and the Terps . . . .

Let's talk Basketball....

3 PEAT! 3 PEAT! 3 PEAT! 3 PEAT!
Pretty obvious who I am chosing to win it all again. I want to hear it from you. What are your predictions, upsets, gripes, and everything else regarding the 02 Finals.

Lakes in 15 games, let's get it over with
rvehock
I am going for whoever ends up playing the Lakers, I hate to see the same team win year after year.
PolyTat
My Eastern Finals pick and new *itch for the Lakes are the Boston Celtics!

Time to start a new tradition in Classic Hoops: The Lakers and Celtics
Robyjo
2 words: Sacramento Kings.

Maik
Can you say...the Celts are back!
MDXLuvr
also the dallas mavericks could possibly hang with the lakers if it is a shootout. the mavs are a great transition team. I think that is the only way to beat the lakers. Unfortunately, the mavs have no big man or playoff experience and that will be their achilles heel. i expect them to realistically challenge the lakers in a yr or 2.

Oh wait this is a Basketball Thread.

Go Mavericks! They are a fun team to watch; one of the few pro teams left that are fun to watch.

I could live with the Spurs, there aren't many players like Tim Duncan left anymore.

PolyTat
The Mavs are a good team to watch. It will be a shootout in the 2nd round of action. Look to see both teams hit the 130 point mark . .. However, by the time they end game 7, they won't have much juice left to continue on to the Western Conf Finals with the Lakes

Tim & Co. . .swept again. They won't be able to match up especially since the admiral is OUT!

Rob,

Until your "cowbell boys" can completely claim the Western Conference (not just the Pacific), then MAYBE you can state your case in 5 words or less. Right now, the Suck-ramento Kinks still have A LOT to prove my man!
If they win the shootout in the second round against Dirk, Nash, and Nick (which I hightly doubt - - ->Cuban has got the brother's number) then I may raise a brow or two.
dromayn
yeah, yeah, yeah, i know the Lakers are gonna be the favorites but as they saying goes " the ball is round " sp anything can happen although i know that the possibilities are slim but still it is possible to beat them. nobody in the league can stop Shaq but if his support crew starts to dissintegrate then who knows what will happen.
PolyTat
IF

shaq gets 30
kobe gets 30
fish and horry drain their 3's
fox d's up
samaki grabs 13+ boards

lakers easy....hey but don't tell the rest in the west

Oh yeah Poly?? Well...er....to tell the truth, I'm real worried about round 2...DAMN those Mavs!! I'm less worried about your LA LA Luckers....
PolyTat
So as I cruised into the Staples Center for Game 1, I thought how much of a pounding the Spurs were going to take. I thought to myself let's see how the first 5-10 minutes turn out and if they go on a quick run (like a 10-0 run) the game would pretty much be over. If they tanked and go next to scoreless - I'll be at the bar downing Lynchburg Jacks - - - -to my amazement I was there sooner than I thought.
Game 1 was terrible! Horrible! Phil even played a clip of the 3 stooges comparing how the Lakes played in Game 1. 5 for 24 in field goals for the first quarter, 32 points in the half, and under 40% shooting for the entire game! Fellas , fellas, fellas . ..well the Spurs were less impressive than that even with a healthy 26-point 14+ reb Tim Duncan.

So, tonight . . .bottom line Lakes by 10 in an easy victory to send the game into SA hands (and begging knees) to close it out on Sunday afternoon . .eventfully on Mom's Day!

Around the rest of the association.....MAVS with an impressive win @ Sactown to turn the momentum over to Mark Cuban and company as they head back to the big D. Mr clutch "canadian" Steve Nash with 30, back to his old self! Too bad Sactown . .this series IS going to 7 and down to the final wire.

Boston HAS got to turn it on man! Let's go dynamic duo . . we don't want to see the boring Pistons get any further.

And the Nets/Hornets series . .this will go down to the wire to with Charlotte pulling it out...

Congrats to Tim as Mr. MVP!

3 Peat 3 Peat 3 Peat . .chants rings about the Staples Center...
PolyTat
So my Lakes finally bit the bullet after a 20-1 playoff record by losing at home in Game 2 of the Western Semis.
Terrible outing by the team overall losing 88-85 to the "confidence-boosted" Spurs.

C'mon San Antonio let me hear it!

Even with the last shot, KOBE should have took it to the hole or at least get to the charity strike to tie it up. But that's how the game goes and now we are forced to win 2 games in SA to close it out back on the Staples floor.

Impressive W by Byron Scott and the Nets. Very impressive. Jason Kidd has the team just scoring like crazy and up 2-0. They are a new team now . .shook off the webs from round 1.

Lastly, I got to give it up to AI . . .out of the playoffs and nutin to do so he calls a press conference that runs 40 minutes and all he talks about is PRACTICE.

"I mean we are talking about practice, man. We are not talking about the game we are talking about practice, man.
I mean practice, man. Practice!"

Classic quote! Idiotic, yet classic!

Oh I know the SAC/DAL series is going to 7. You must be talking about that DET/BOS series, right??

Dont count on it...Boston in six!

fun playoffs so far. usually NBA regular season is soooo boring that i don't realize its playoffs until the the conference championships. I think the Mavs/Kings games are by far the best BB on T.V. its as if they are playing in their own allstar game!

btw, i'm not a mavs fan, but they sure are fun to watch.

regarding Allen "cry baby" Iverson. what a loser, he has his old coach John Thompson trying to explain that he is a "misunderstood young man" good spin! allen should be happy that he can make millions playing a kid's game. besides, with his skinny body, he is lucky he is still playing the game.

BOSTON with KARMA on its side . . .pulling out a W in Auburn Hills and holding the Pistons back after coming up huge in the 3rd quarter. Now it is back to the parkay, the Garden, oops I mean the Fleet where Pierce and Walker will step it up a notch. However, with uncle cliffy and stackhouse, it will be decided in 7!

Look at you Texas, hosting four playoff games!! Might there be a chance for a DAL/SA series????
Driving between the BIG D and SA is a long haul - 3 hour drive and nothing but Waco in between . .do I hear road trip??

My Lakes are going to have to bring the "A" game back on to make it a more exciting series. I do see that coming back to. SA has a great home winning streak and a perfect time for the Lakes to take 1 or 2.
Thus far, I would agree the SAC/DAL series is like an allstar shootout . .run and gun run and gun...

No, I doubt it. I don't think that the spurs can hang with L.A., and Dallas is too young and inexperienced. I think it will be a California affair. L.A. vs. Sac.

Dallas with a HUGE loss at home...what's is up with that?? Mark Cuban should have invested in more cowbells!!
Did I hear right . .Nash and Dirk combined for 22 points??? WOW that's pathetic even with a 125-119 loss.
I DO like the SAC injuries - - esp Peja !

And finally, my props to the lowly "unappreciated" Hornets. I mean unappreciated because the fans have all left them since they are making the move to New Or'lens. Tough break even with an impressive win over the Nets and a banged up J. Kidd, the fans are going to make the Hornets lose the series. Thus, their X factor

Robyjo
Dear Friend Poly,

Peja's ankle may be a bit tender, but he'll be back for the next game--just like Christie was for the 2nd half. Did you see him? Talk about on fire!!

Spoken like a true Texan, MDXLuvr--I always knew you were one of the sensible ones around here...

Alright tat--looks like our boys may be seeing each other soon...that is, if the Shaq/Kobe sideshow can make it past the Duncan "We don't need Robinson" show...

Foreverdearest Robyjo,

C'mon Roby loosen up, man! It's the playoffs, the finals.....we are at war! I want this discussion thread to start dropping some "A" bomb comments.....we are a bit too nice, Rob!

IT IS ALL FOR FUN....c'mon man bring it on!

And yes, I did see 'laker-reject' Christie go in for that huge DUNK..I think I replayed that on my dish at least 5x 'cuz it was an excellent highlight! SAC is just too quick and smart for the run and gun MAVS.
Yes! The Lakes have a HUGE hump to get over...and I must admit I am not completely convinced they will sweep the SPURS at home...if they do it will be close just like the first two crappy -*ss games. I will make my final assessment within the first 5-10 minutes of the game.
Just based on media mumbo jumbo, Shaq is nursing his toe, ankle and re-stitched finger, Phil is getting into Shaq's brain again (like last year), and Kobe is still cringing about the decision he made that ended game 2. WAKE up Lakes and close the deal.

Did I hear right from the AP, Robinson might throw in some minutes for Popovich?? I agree with your comment .. they don't need him!

I say, have him go back to the academy, rest and relax his body and go fishin off the Chesapeake Bay.

Bring it! Who's got next.
Robyjo
Aw c'mon tat--was the 'sideshow' comment too subtle for you to pick up on, or just not harsh enough?! :D

The Kobe/Shaq 'sideshow'--the kid who like you said is kickin' himself in the rear after that last play and all the times he shouldn't have passed and took the ball home (everytime, between you, him and the backboard), and the big man who's forever in conflict with the IQ-stretching 'chats' with Phil Jackson.

What you do have in your corner is the rest of the lineup--those boys can play when they're on...

OK--I'll try and give you the berating you and yours deserve from here on out...;)
Robyjo
Umm...Sacramento RULES!!!

:D

Shall I even comment today????

My boyz did the "impressive" this weekend. It is what veteran championship teams are made of, honestly. Only this time it was single handedly done by our veteran 23-yr old Kobe! Not only did he outscore the Spurs 12-10 in the 4th quarter last night but he turned on the jets only when he absolutely had to. No matter how many points the Spurs had been up in the first 3 quarters, the Lakes have been the 4th quarter team, the better team to put the Spurs away!

Tim is a great player, don't get me wrong. But if the MVP is suppose to finish teams off then MAKE THE FRICKEN FREE THROWS Tim! How pathetic. How many times did I roll the clip of a dejected Tim Duncan slapping his jersey over his head like a poor little *itch.

He knows his season is over!

SacTown! Are you OUT there?? Let's go, let's finish the Texas 2 step and take care of biznuss at home. Bring the bells, the matching white shirts and towels and bring on the noise! If you are going to win the series against these sad MAVS, do it with style and win by 20. None of this OT crap....you are just wasting valuable time.
My Lakes are gearing up for the challenge and this NoCal/SoCal rivalry continues. The NBA Finals errr the Western Finals are just days away.

Let me not forget about the East, I know one of the West teams have to play against an opponent. Unfortunately, it will either be the Nets or the Celts.
Both teams show the poise and composure to do it, but I think The Kidd will prevail. As much as I want the 3-point shooting Celts in the final, I think the inside presence of Jason Kidd will be the difference. Both teams with very impressive stats the past weekend breaking their opponents in half.
Robyjo
Tat--your boyz...er...boy pulled it out in the end...but none of that 1-man show stuff will work against another CA team. Your la la boys will really feel the heat here...

Man, you're not kidding about Duncan...what the heck was up? He must've had a mental injury or something.

I have a feeling you're right--the Kings will face the Kidd and Co. in the end, though that series won't be as exciting as the one coming up here in Cali...
Robyjo
OOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
BBBBBBBBBBBBBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOYYYYYYYYYYY!!!

Sacramento wins in 5! GO KINGS!! Hedo, Bobby, Bibby, CWebb...when you see Gavin Maloof jumpin around like a fool, you know something big happened...

Now for a little rest before we BEAT LA.
PolyTat
enjoy it - it just won't last -
tremendous victory- huge props to the Kings
Advertisement
PolyTat
I'll hand it to your boyz - a great win - a subdued celebration - they haven't accomplished anything yet and they know it!
Bibby was the X factor the past two victories - we got this guy "fish" who will shut him down - and what the hell was shawn bradley doing defending CWebb?? - make sure Peja is healed and rested he will need it when "foxy" makes him go 1 for 15 - look to see the Lakes will keep the Kings under the century mark - and again finishing your boys off in the 4th - Go ahead chant it - BEAT LA BEAT LA - such a tired tune
Robyjo
Actually, I wonder if we should be watching Spurs tapes... Your Luckers are their usual cocky selves while Tim and Dave might be coming back with a fervor, from a few interviews I've seen today...

That was a great play when Bradley went up against Webb...Chris basically told everyone on the court, "I'm now going to get the ball and make a basket, and there isn't crap any of you can do about it."

Here's to cold fish, foxy with a bad hairdo, and a Shaq that just doesn't have much attack lately...
PolyTat
You can't rely on sports media information . .they often construe what the players are actually saying .they got to. Anything to stir up the playoffs to kick up the ratings and make for great talk around the H20 cooler. I would suggest to turn off your tube until the game kicks into gear. That way you are not so caught up in the "He said" "She said" comments instigated by the media.

And they are not being cocky, they are speaking from experience.

Bring on the comments.....I love it...you are finally showing your true competitive spirit . .keep bringing it on. They say laughter is the key to a healthy day . .so give me more to chuckle about.

Nuff said.....the A game is back in full swing..Lakes by 15

BTW, haven't you had smoked salmon.....it's great cold! Noticed you don't have a comment about Kobe .. .yeah that's right . .you don't want me to start on Hedo's hairdo do you????

Robyjo.....IF . . . I don't feel any confidence on your team

Robyjo
C'mon Tat--we're realists, we're not going to talk it up like your Luckers.

Your boys have undeniable talent that's taken them to the ring store 2 in a row...so I would never say it'll be a walk in the park. I'd say it's a big if on either side.

And I'd definitely call it cockiness, amigo--downright egocentrism. Alot has gone to your boys' heads, and Phil's working the double shift on damage control...
Maik
Celts on to the Eastern Finals!

Could we be headed to a throwback finals series with the Lakers??

That would indeed be fun!
PolyTat
Maik,

Nice call! Indeed your Celts did a tremendous job holding Stackhouse and Co. I picked the Celts to go the the Eastern Finals as well . .and ultimately it would be great to see them back in the Finals - even though they lack the experience. They are on a rhythm and as long as they stay on that plateau they will hang with Kidd & Co.

Hey Roby, notice how Maik referred to a throwback finals with my Lakes . . .cuz there isn't a history with any Sac team
PolyTat
Nuff Said Roby . .you know what time it is . .see you on Saturday . .literally.

I am flying up to the bay area (close enough) and attending a function in Elk Grove. If you hear of a guy and his family sporting the Laker Gold - then you know who it is.

Ugly win, BIG result! We have momentum baby......it is called the 4th quarter, where games are decided!

Look out CWebb....your daddy is coming and if you decide to step on his big toe - then expect the big blow and bow down like the whiner you are . . . .

BRING IT!
Robyjo
Alright Tat, we're just about ready for you La La's and your minions. We've polished up some mirrors so you all can stare at yourselves as you do down there in So. Cal.

Talk about UGLY win...you guys are good at those, though.

History--it's history. That's right Tatty, we don't live in the past. We're ready for here and now. Sacramento hasn't come this far for nothing. Get your best on, because the Western finals are going to be the most exciting, better than whatever the East has to offer as their sacrificial team...and your big boy Shaq is gonna be crying about more than his toe in the end.

A piece of advice, Tat--don't wear any of your Lucker paraphernalia when you come up here. We Sacramento fans are as ferocious as you've heard...lynching would NOT be out of the question...

Hmm...maybe we should meet for a friendly arm wrestle or we can race our MDX's. ;)
PolyTat
Boston is on fire. The Nets have momentum and confidence. The East is going to have a great series . .I see a lot of west coast run and gun with the east coast 3 point flare type of series. With JKidd pushin the ball up the floor and slicing through to the hoop will kill Boston. Equally, the inside presence of Walker/Pierce with the 15 ft J's as well as the 3 point bombs will jack up the Nets.
Great series . .but who wants to see a Nets/Kings series??????? REALLY . . . NBC will be running Alf commercials just to fill in the gaps if that happens....

Great take Robyjo.....keep bringin it. Our laid-back- rah rah- cell-phone talking - hollywood - appearance is true......but the 4th quarter is ours. And when the white shirts and cowbells appear, by game 4 you will have converted those white shirts into white rags on sticks because it will be time to surrender . . .

On my plane trip up there this weekend, I will make a special appearance at the Ralph's (official grocery sponsor of the Lakes) in Elk Grove and sport my gear baby. My boy will wear it, my wonderful wife with the Laker bonnet-rag, me from head to toe, and the car all decked out with Laker flags - - - - all this to get the attention from Cowbell Hell, there is NO stoppin the Lakes. In addition, we have some other people traveling from SoCal to Nocal and they will be sporting the gear as well.
Call it a purple and gold flurry or Damn the Champs are in town - -your boyz are going to bow down.

Oh .. poor Peja..you know the 18.3 points he has been averaging in the playoffs . ..well that will be the difference in Games 1 and 2. Why doesn't he just suck it up?? The Big Daddy with injured dogs is . .have Peja take a few cortizon shots and B12 and get on the court ... . THIS IS THE SERIES . .he has all winter to heal! Wimp.

Arm wrestle I will do .. .be forwarned of my 18" pythons. MDX racing outta the question!
PolyTat
Dropped 36 points in the first quarter. . ...sigh.... Shaq-cramento looked very timid against big brother . . .just another day in the park.
6 of 7 defeats in the Arco Barn and that's all the Kings can give the Lakes Show??? C'mon Kings . .all you can do is have a defender-splittin' Bobby Jackson (getting kissed by two farmers) show up and give a little boost to cut the lead?
I've got to say Sacramento has REALLY got to show up to work....if they want it. The 112 decibles inside the arena is not going to be enough if the team isn't going to produce.
Turkey-loo, what is up with going 0-9 in 30 minutes??? Reminisce back to last year when Foxy did something very similar with Peja.

To add to the expense . . .while I was up in the Bay area and Elk Grove this past weekend with our flags proudly blowing in the wind of our minivan rental, King fans of all ages flipped me the bird or otherwise gave me dirty looks. Perhaps it was from the sore loss and their misery taking over. I did spot a lost kings flag on the street. . . picked it up and did the ol' "Taps" salute as I threw in in the trach can.

Let's show up today, Kings...really we need a "challenging series" and your NO - D approach is not going to take you anywhere.
PolyTat
J Kidd messed around and got a triple double. Who from Boston is going to stop that?? Have Pierce and Walker drop their 30+ points but still come up shy because they have no answer for JKidd . .and how the heck does McCollugh get away with dropping double digits against Boston??
Byron Scott is bringing his east coast team with the west coast offense to meet the defending champs. . . .
Robyjo
Alright Tat, I'll give it to you. It's true the Lakers stole the show on Saturday, but trust me friend, there's no reason to get too cocky...

You and yours will have their work cut out for them tonight--remember the King's loss against the Mavs?

Well--see you tonight, either way...here's hoping against your La La's...
PolyTat
He had an answer for Utah
He had an answer for the Big D
He admitted he doesn't have an answer for LA

hmmmmm . . .remember the Chi/Portland series Adelman, same nemnesis, Phil Jackson

Shaq-cramento needs more than hope. . . .they need D-fense, we need to see it!!
Maik
"J Kidd messed around and got a triple double. Who from Boston is going to stop that?? Have Pierce and Walker drop their 30+ points but still come up shy because they have no answer for JKidd . .and how the heck does McCollugh get away with dropping double digits against Boston??

Funny thing, thats exactly what was said after the first Detriot game! Celts went on to win four straight. While I certainly do neot see that happening again, lets remember that the Celts only need to win one in NJ. First game is always tough in an evenly matched series to win on the road. Pierce was awful and it had little to do with the Nets "D". He would have had trouble hitting the Atlantic ocean on this day. To think that will continue throughout the series is a mistake. Game two will be his and the Celts will split in NJ....
Celtics in 6!
PolyTat
Nice. I would like to see that happen. . . but please have your boyz D up on KMartin, Kittles, Van Horn, and for heaven's sake McCollugh - this guys shoudn't get anything going but keeping that bench warm. Put Rodney on him to plug that middle up.
Robyjo
Psssstt! Hey Tat--Adelman had an answer for the big oaf after all! And the answer wasn't a cheesburger... :16:

And I'm thinking the answer was a bit surprising, considering it came from our little men, Bibby and Jackson. 5 games, guaranteed, amigo....things are starting to get interesting...
PolyTat
((((Yelling across the room)))) You Guys Finally Showed Up, huh? Now let's make it a series.

5 Games for Shaq-cramento - dude, what are you smokin??

I got to hand to your boyz. They pulled off a ugly defeat in front of the home crowd defeating the Lakes Show by a measly 6 points. The Lakes didn't show up to play.....going 3-19 in 3pt goals and getting outrun in the 3rd 24-17. The burger story was a mere distraction but, enough to get your guys going.
I am not surprised about Bobby and Bibby . .. key players with outstanding speed. They just cut thought the lane where the Laker D can be vulnerable - like last night. Fish couldn't contain, and Lindsey fouled often.
:14:
But if this is the way that SacTown is going to win games then please, please call Shamu and Flipper because Vladi and Pollard need desperate help in Flop-ology! Boy, they can really act! I mean I thought Foxy had bad acting in He Got Game . . .
Tyra, Tyra, Tyra - -looking good, girl but what is up with CWebb - get this boy to put up more than 20.

And finally, Turkey-loo - broke outta your slump - too bad your due back on the bench cuz' Peja is on his way in for a rusty show!

See you at Staples!

Hey Boston......make the free throws tonight and you might....just might make it back into the Finals
PolyTat
 BOSTON with the win on the road! Impressive way to get home court advantage. The duo still had trouble at the line but nmanaged to hold their lead - which was 18 points at one point - to pull off the victory in front of some stunned fans.

Those NBC folks sure let a sigh with this one . . . .
PolyTat
Disappointed! but NOT worried
SacTown .. . you took them outta the game in the first and didn't look back. That's how a Laker victory feels like.....feeels great, huh??

Enjoy the V in LA . .it is your last - - -Shaq-Town Sunday to tie up the series!

NBA commissioner called in the Lakers and pleaded with the team to lose a few. If Lakers sweep in 4 or 5, too much advertising income is lost.

Its all a conspiracy, I tell you, Lakers in 7... :2:

And the Final? I will bet it will go to 7th game...Lakers in 7.

Mike
Robyjo
Brave face, dear Poly, brave face. ;) That kind of a SLAUGHTER is the kind you never forget, especially when you're talking about a playoff game.

And Mike--is that the best defense you have for your Luckers? A conspiracy theory? You sure you aren't from Montana or Idaho or something, brother? At least come up with a better conspiracy--have you thought about that burger we served Kobe made with British imported beef?

Honestly, it was just one of those nights--the Kings were on (I mean ON) and the Luckers were definitely off (embarrasingly :o). What really pissed me off is your fans--when your boys pulled a few unforced turnovers, they start booing the team?! They boo the Lakers off the court at halftime? What a joke--the Lakers are my #2 team (believe it or not), and they deserve better fans.

OK, enough soapbox.

Rob
rliggayu
Hey fellow MDXers, what about Polytat and Robyjo 1 on 1, any takers?:2: :18: :7:
megabuck2
Robyjo,

I agree with you regarding the L.A fans...I am not sure why they boo the Lakers...so they had an off night (or conspired with the commisioner to extend the series to 7th game), big deal, fans should love their team whether they lose or win...no loyalty.

Lakers defintely had an off night or Sacramento's defense was great. So what? The Game will go the distance and Lakers will get the series.

It seems everyone in the Bay Area is pulling for the Sac...not because they like the team but they just do not want the Lakers to win....again.

So what if Lakers lose, life will go on and as long as i have my MDX in my garage, I am content.

Yeah, the commisoner called in the Celtics too....looks like a blow out just like the Laker game. Coincidence? Maybe....and the truth is out there...

(David Stern on his horse at Rockerfeller Plaza)

The NBA season is coming to an end very soon. And along with the NBA board of directors we need to squeeze as much from all basketball sports fans everywhere. This means we need to gather the stars who are left in the game and tell them to bring back the "passion" of the game. It is what your grandaddys wore on their arm sleeves every night. We are tired of the hip-hop, lazy, tattoo-arm wearin' hoodlums that think all they have to do is cause some controversy in the game and expect the fans to follow.....errrrr....dammit Kobe and Shaq just turn it it on boyz! Enough of this suspense and drama. . .It will play well when your SI Championship Book is released .. but now is the time to not feel bored anymore. You see that Boston defeat over the Nets Saturday night? Well, that 4th quarter 21 point comeback was no fluke. We like the money coming outta this franchise and if you continue to reap the harvest of the NEW Celtic pride . . .the young guns, you WILL be rewarded. If you fail.....you will still be respected.
NBA on two on two -- - ready BRAKE!

Hey Robyjo, looks like we have an audience, (FINALLY) turn it up a notch, dog, weez got more smack to talk.

And I am not hear to defend the Laker Fans either. The poor display deserved some boos but not as embarrassing as the media provoked it (NBC). Don't get all caught into that or the notion that Phil and Shaq are in heated disputes. Jim Gray, Where's ugly Walton, all the sports broadcasters (Laker Haters), will keep adding to the fire just as long as the champs keep losing.
However, once they kick up the juice and show up Sunday afternoon, all those worries will be put to bed.

The Suckramento Queens will lose Sunday, CWebb will keep his arrogant head up high and say "We got them where we want them, it is time to come back home and take care of business."

Please, fool . .consult with yo daddy and tell him please, please, please I don't wanna get spanked by the big daddy.

Hey Queens, you still have plenty to prove! Brake out the paper this morning and tell me more media-provoked stories . . . . . .yawn.

Hey I though this was a friendly forum? Let's all be civil, no name calling!!! I am NOT a Lakers or Celtics fan, sorry if cannot handle it?
Maik
I am a long time Celtics fan. Grew up with my older brother "having" to take me with him to games when we were kids. In those days, they never lost and I was blessed to have seen Heinson, Russell, Cousy and many others who would eat up todays players.

This years edition of the Celtics reminds me of the old timers in one respect...they play as a team. This group of Celtics has far outplayed their individual talent. I believe that they are a team of destiny as were the Patriots. Yesterdays game was a marvel to watch. I have never seen a comeback of that magnitude. It would have been quite understandable if they packed it in while down by 26 in the 3rd and played for a split in Boston. But they didn't.

Sorry boys, doesn't matter who wins the West...only playing it out to see who looses to the Celtics next!

All the way to number 17!!:2:
Sandman
No one has ever seen a comeback of that magnitude ever in all of playoff history. I think the stats are something out of 177 games where a team in the playoffs lead by 21 or more points by the 4th won resulting in 176 wins the only 1 that didn't was last night!! Go Celts!!!

Actually I would like to see a Celtics and Lakers playoff like yesteryear...

And of course the Celtics win... 2 titles for the New England area would be great...
megabuck2
Yeah, I guess my conspiracy theory went out the door...
Remember the movie The Longest Yard? All the prisoner had to do was throw the game and would have had their years in prison reduced by few years...(i think that was the premises) but their pride got in the way and beat the guards silly....

Celts couldn't bear to lose...so they came back and beat the Nets silly.

In a conspiracy theory, like the OPECs, all it takes is few to break the "theory"...

BTW, youall know that this is all in fun, right? Funny, got a call from Agent Mulder asking me about the NBA conspiracy...told him to ask the Smoking Man...

Ok, who is the stool pidgeon on this board!!!

Nothing but love for you, man! I didn't mean the name calling. . . .Hey moderators remove Smiley #32!

The Lakes Show with a tremendous 24 point deficit comeback marks the largest margin of victory win in NBA playoff history!!!! After watching the comeback win from Boston the night before, the Lakes Show decided to show the fans something a bit more nearly impossible to do.
I gotta hand it to Sacramento, well really to Vladi. With less than 30 ticks to go Vladi was sent to the charity strike. All he had to do was sink the two to put the game nearly outta reach. But he missed one costly bucket leaving the score 97-98 with 11 ticks to go.
The Lakes with the ball . .and a chance to even the score, all the Kings had to do was foul Shaq, Kobe or whoever received the inbound pass. At least the Kings would have had a 50/50 chance.
Instead, after the ball trickled around the rim Vladi kicks the ball out right into Horry's direction. Horry picks up the rock . spots up beyond the arc and drains the three....such a common sight for Horry! ANd a HIGH five to Vladi.
But obviously it is not just Vladi's fault. The 24-point deficit, comfortable, easy, show-boatin' Kings should have remained composed and reserved through the game! Even though they blew up with 40 in the first, they still were outshot the 3 remaining quarters. They SHOULD have put the Lakes away. Instead they looked like suckers tonight!

Alas! the west. conf final is now a deciding 3 game series - for now we will savor this victory and add it to the drama and intensity for the Lakers 2002 Championship DVD.

You musta felt your heart just drop, SacTown fans....a dagger straight through the heart.
Robyjo....I know...not real anxious to see the headlines as well as my replies . .but hey player . . .keep your chin up .. cuz your Queens still have much more to prove. And please, find another name then The Luckers. . .. it just doesn't sound right.

Sad, sad day for King Fan.....I could just feel Bibby's heart as I saw his reaction when Horry drained that 3. Oh Man! Rewind that again . . . .:1:

A great Game! Not just because Lakers won but it is a great inspirational event to the youngters watching the game...Never give up! Also like the old hare and tortoise story, slow and steady wins the race....like the old "prevent defense" in football, I think the Sacs went into the prevent defense mode where they played well enough to win the game but did not.

C. Webb said it tonight..."it was a lucky play...." I really thought he was going to bawl like a baby.

And Walton dude, geez, I thought commentators were supposed to be "neutral". Anything bad happens to the Sac...he would repeatedly say "...if thats not a foul, what is?..." If Lakers get fouled without a call,..."Well, that evens out the play at the other end..." He kept mentioning C.Webb as the MVP...I thought the MVP went to Jason Kidd this year?
MDXLuvr
actaully Duncan in S.A was MVP. walton is a moron- i can't stand listening to him. Sometimes, I will mute the T.V. and listen on radio just to avoid him. He is neutral, b/c he makes MORONIC comments for both teams. He is such a dramaqueen.:3: every comment has to be OMG this, what a major mistake, etc. etc. :3: :3:

ahhh, i feel better. btw, great games this wknd, atleast they were fun to watch for the neutral crowd.;)

Oh Man! What a show the Nets and Celts gave us on last nights performance.
The Celts could have gone up 3-1 if Pierce made those free throws. Instead you have a series that is matched up and going back to Jersey . . .no team is safe with a 20 point lead nowadays! Incredible action!
rliggayu
It reminded me of Nick Anderson of the Orlando Magic in the early 90's, choke on free throws on playoffs.:8: :28:
Robyjo
Alright, I'm back, and it's time to be back. Tat, you've had alot to say, but honestly, bub--lot's of flash and little content. Hmm...sounds like your team tonight.

Bibby comes through in the clutch today, Vlade (take note, Tat, that's VladE with and e, as in excellent, not i as in incredible, though that applies as well) with a key block, shuts down Kobe and friends. Peja came back to bring some pizzazz to the boys and watch Shaq sit on the bench.

By the way, as far as game 4 was concerned, well that LUCK was attributed to maybe a 3 pointer that was shot after the clock ran out--as a matter of fact, it was such a horrific injustice, NBA Commisioner Stern called for an adjustment to allowing replays at the end of a quarter.

OK, tomorrow should be another great Eastern Final game as well, and we'll be back for a bit of 1-on-1 of words, Tat.

Thanks, Tat, but I think Luckers is the most fitting name for your boys...I think Bibby's heart came up from the depths tonight, and I wonder what you were rewinding tonight, my friend...;)

rvehock--don't worry friend, our teams will win in the end (especially with Kidd kickin' the way he is) and you'll be the one holding the sign.

Seriously, it's all in jest--we're just kicking up dirt because it's fun, especially in a series this incredible, on both sides of the country. Poly is a fan, and he's just doing his job right...can't be too sensitive in this thread. He's just a bit confused about which teams to root for!

Keep rooting, amigo. :1:

Strange how the Sac fans call is a great shot when Sac puts it in at the buzzer and when L.A puts it in, its just lucky....Wasn't that a moving screen by C.webb?

Yeah, Horrys buzzer beater...how the ball got to Horry was pure Luck but it takes more than luck to drain a three...on the same note, I think Sac got real lucky when they got the ball back with 11 ticks to go.

Anyway, it was a great game...

Looking forward to Game 6 and 7...

Mike
megabuck2
And regarding the 3 pointer at half time...
You think disregarding the 3 pointer at half could have changed the game? Maybe so, but if the goal was disallowed, maybe Lakers would have won by 2 points instead of one...too many variable to say that particular bad call made the difference.

And it they are going to allow replays...heck, lets replay all the foul calls. Coach can challenge but if you lose, take 2 points away from losing the challenge.

The call on Christi was questionable, but I think the 6th foul call on Shaq was somewhat questionable as well....

Mike
Robyjo
True, Mike--you never know if recalling that 3 pointer would've allowed the Kings to win, but it would definitely have changed the outcome. And they're going allow replays only at the end of a quarter. Agreed on the foul calls--very interesting officiating in these games--definitely a whole other variable the teams have to account for at any given moment, to either hack away and flop or go for the ball at all cost.

6 will be interesting indeed...

Alright .. you really want my honest take, Sacramento Fan?? Your boyz got a lot of the breaks last night .. ticky tak fouls, flopology, whining, .. .yatta yatta yatta. Even CWebb knew the ball was off his leg and outta bounce with under 20 ticks to go. You can see it in his body expressions. It reminded me of his Michigan days when he called timeout during a final four game and THEY didn't have any timeouts left! I see something similar in the serires. The shot that Kobe got off, c'mon FOUL on Bobby. Call it ref, call those fouls.
Albeit, I know they are human like me and you, but somehow the refs have been SO criticized for their poor performances. They have been under the scope time and time again . .Fred, Dick .. even the 20+ yea
