I was told that Granite Green & Mahagony
colors have been discontinued. Granit Green
was an awesome color, why discontinue that.

Also I heard that they will NOT produce
that questionable color Havesau Blue.

Any input???????

... I overheard a Sales Rep mention that Mahagony was being discontinued, so apparently there is truth to these rumors.

I do ot really know anything about the blue, but I do find it odd to be on such an extended "hold."

There are a couple on threads on the blue if you do a search. I would be surprised if blue is cancelled. All along I have heard (mostly on this site) that the blue would be replacing GG (it is somewhat similar) in April (i.e. right now). If they cancel GG and Blue then I don't know what the logic is.

As of last saturday, the manager of my local dealership told me that he had several Havesau Blue on order. Apparently, if that color is not going to be produced they haven't gotten around to telling the dealers yet.

discontinue GG? I think it is one of the best choices. So, this would leave only Red Rock, White, Black, Silver and Biege??? that's stupid. If they do, I think the resale of GG's will JUMP, not faint. How can you go wrong with this color?

Personally, I think both Red Rock and Mohoganny should have been ditched and Rosewood (see Nissan's) color introduced.

I saw one MDX not long ago repainted in Rosewood (or whatever similar color name). Looked incredible!

GG turning into a dino in 1 ½ years…..oh well…would of prefered white anyway.:D

I am picking up my H Blue in NJ tonight. I will post pictures later.....

for those, unfamiliar with Nissan's Rosewood color:

what tics me off is that Acura, unlike most other luxury divisions, uses the same colors for MDX as Honda for Odyssey...

I would really like to see the Havasu Blue's pictures
Rail
That's not that far from Mahogany... this picture wasn't taken in the sun -- the Nissan seems to have a lot of purple in it.

Think of GG as a collector's edition without all of the hype!:D
msu79gt82
I always preferred the MDX in darker colors, as did many of the early professional reviewers:D

I agree with Rail the Rosewood is not all that different from Mahagony.

I asked TheWorm in another thread and he was not 100% sure.

What is the finish on the OEM Steps? Are they PAINTED black or are they POWDERCOATED black? Thanks, if you know.

Thanks even if you don't know:cool:
Rail
They're powder coated -- they have to be stripped. Our guy added a clear coat with the colour we chose... some other colours don't require the clear coat which adds extra cost.

you know i must've been temporarily color-blinded (or have not seen too many Mohoganies in my area), but Rails (very cool) MDX does resemble the color I mentioned. on the contrary, I sought it was the Mohogany color that had a bit of purple in it (I may have to talk to my wife, now I am convinced that women and 'happy men' see different color gammas than men).

btw, very nice rims, again I wish I did not leave in the city.

Thanks Rail:D

I was told they are discontinuing GG and DMP to use on the Honda Pilot. GO figure.
BDMDX
Mahagony (DMP) no longer on the acura web site. That tells me officialy that color is definetly going.

Oh Well!!!!

I think it is STOOOPID of Honda to offer the same pallete on Honda & Acura.

I know, I know, the factory is the SAME, but they ought to offer distinctive colors.

Lexus does this.

Infiniti does this.

Heck, Cadillac, Lincoln, & Chrysler even do this.

With the Pilot this is even MORE important. If American Honda is SERIOUS about being successful with Honda & Acura branded cars sharing so much, they NEED to do everything they can to make the premium for the "silver A" WORTH IT!

Can we expect these new colors:

iS 300 HeLLO YELLO

Incredible Hulk GREEN

Papa Smurf BLUE

Disco Snaggle-Tooth GOLD

You have my vote for the BLUE one. I remember the color from TL Type S brochure. I thought that was Havasu Blue. The REAL HB just doesn't do it for me - maybe just a tad better than Biege, but still is on the list of colors I wouldn't consider even at 1/2 price.
henry_atwork
Is there no way at all to get a DMP? Has it been completely stopped in production? Does anyone know if there are still waiting lists with DMP MDXs?
DaleB
All indications are that it is history. And Granite Green is on it's way to the same place.

I vote for a metallic navy w/cream interior!
sgtglok
yesterday saw havasu blue in person - looks like a granite-green LIGHT (or bleeched). i guess it would appeal to some, but to cancel the gg in it's favor??? stupid-stupid-stupid!!!
DMor
Saw HB at Carmel Mtn Good Guys parking lot...while trekking from the end of the lot. I noticed it right up front all naked and ding-able! Yikes. But...color is just OK. No pizzazz. But then most of the MDX colors lack that special something, IMO. They need more metallic in the paint...which spells more $$. I'd gladly pay the extra tho.

7plus,

Thanks for the work:D I really like the blue. That's one color that is on the TL and not the X. I would have seriously considered it.

I was recently told the GG & DM are discontinued. I just ordered the Havasu Blue - the swatch doesn't do it justice. In person it was blue, silver, even a little green in various lights. I'd like it a bit deeper, but at least it's different. In my neck of the woods, 9 out of 10 are silver or black.

That blue in the rotating custom color post from 7plus looks very close to the Aegean Blue Pearl offered on TLs. It's an intense, beautiful color - it would look great on the MDX!

I'd also like it if Acura would offer Anthracite. It's a deep, highly reflective metallic and looks great with all of the little polished chrome and aluminum bits. Here's some photos:

I think it was a mistake to get rid of Granite Green and I think we should call and write to the President and VP of Sales and Operations at Acura/American Honda and let them know our feelings. The more people who complain, there is a chance they may bring back a charcoal grey type color in 2003. I know in our company, when we changed a formulation, people complained, and we switched back to the old formula. Maybe you remember New Coke?
DFDesigns
I'll join your campaign! The only thing that would make it better (for me) would if they'd offer this Sagebrush pearl:
YUJIY
I wrote to Acura Client Services and they responded by saying that they will introduce "Sage Brush" in 2003. It goes to show Acura value some of our opinions, but they leave their dealers in the dark. Not one of them told me this, and tried to sell me a second choice color. I guess now I'm waiting!

The first verified fact about the 2003 MDX. Acura sure does keep a tight reign on information about new models.

Write again and ask them about HP and MSRP info on 2003 MDX.

I like the idea of a darker grey or darker silver for the 2003 and the Pilot's "Sagebrush" is a welcomed surprise. Can we hope that Acura will also offer the "Fern" interior as well?

And while I'm hoping, let me sugggest that they offer an openable rear hatch, full size spare, and interior lights in the grab handles like the Pilot has. Auto up/down windows would be nice too.

And the list could go on and on and on, but then it would just be easier to get an RV instead.:p

YUJIY,
any word on interior choice for that? I am thinking ebony if it replace GG but its a guess. Nice color, I would get it with saddle but I don't think it "goes" with saddle like it would with ebony.
up4funnla
I was looking forward to purchasing a Granite Green w/ Ebony interior. If they offer the Ebony with the SageBrush that'd be gr8. So much easier to keep it clean. The Saddle reminds me of vomit...LOL...sorry if you like that color, but that's my opinion.

And............I hear more HP in 2003...a 3.8L w/ somewhere around 285 like my Z71.

The "new car sales manager" is often 'in charge' of ordering vehicles to put on the lot. I think they are allowed to input '03 orders this week or next, there would be no need to let information out to the salespeople -- at least from the perspective of 'selling the lot until it's empty'.

The salepeople are big fibbers...

I did not inquire as to the choice of interior, but you can probably write to them and find out:

Acura Client Services Dept
1919 Torrance Blvd.
Torrance, CA 90501-2746

I actually addressed mine to the SVP Dick Colliver and President Koichi Amemiya and received a written response from a client service rep. within two weeks. I voiced my complaint loudly regarding the discontinuance of GG. I don't think they would be so quick to respond if you're only asking about interior colors, but who knows.
