Too many MDXs on the road in my area! - Click HERE for Original Thread

When I first got my x there was no else in my area that has seen anything like it. Now it seems there is almost as many Xs on the road as those RX300s, mercede's vans, and bmw wagons and I don't feel so unique anymore. Just yesterday when stopped at a red light 2 Xs passed me back to back, both with those huge soccer stickers on the back (soccer mom) and I almost puked.
I'm going to add some more modifications this summer because owning an X is no longer different in my area. Honda adding the Pilot to their lineup isn't helping the situation either.

Jason,

Just wait a year or two and get an Aztek. My guess is that in a year or two you will not see any of these on the road and you can be unique.:D

Seriously, what you say is true - I noticed 3 other MDXs on my commute home last week - and my commute is only 2.5 miles! Oh well, it's still a great car/SUV.
msu79gt82
... a few per week. They are still fairly rare in my area. Have yet to see one of the new colors on the road.

Looks like the MDX is being used as the minivan of the new century in Jersey - ((( not the soccer mom sticker))) arghhhhh!
Next time we will see the "Proud Parent of an honor roll child" sticker

... is now very unique:cool:

Touring, DMP (discontinued:rolleyes: ), with BSM, silver powdercoated SideSteps:D , w/o Roof Rack:cool: :D

Its one of a kind:p

The Vehicross is a cool truck and I hardly ever see them on the road. Its styling is controversial, had poor advertising, and was discontinued in the US as of 2001. It is the same size as the Amigo about 170" long yet has almost as much power as the X, 230hp V-6. It came with 18in rims, red leather interior, and body paneling on the side that appeared to be ding-proof all standard. The side panels as is the rest of the Vehicross are function before beauty. I was considering getting one before the X but there is no leg room, even with the seat all the way back. This is the suv that you will never see a soccer mom sticker on, that is if you ever see one at all.

I've noticed many more X's in the Memphis area also. That goes to show you that more and more people know a good thing, when they see one.

Still happily rare here in North County San Diego. Only one in the parking garage, still get people walking over to take a look when I walk out to it on the way home. Ratio of sighting to RX300 must be at least 1 MDX to every 20 RX300 and 10 Mercedes SUV's.

Still very rare up in the north, I might see one every 6 weeks or so. Maybe more now that tourists are starting to show up...

As a result, my SS is still turning heads! :D:D
jj_mdx
yeap, definately more and more here in north Texas.... mine included... especially in Plano area.... i must have bumped into at least 5 everyday in the past week.... but, only saw once another red one....:D
wckrause
I might have my SS MDX up your way if it gets here in time. I'll be up for the Marathon at the end of June. The MDX is due sometime in June. Later in the summer I'll be back through on my way to the gunflint trail. By then I hope to have a roof rack installed for the canoe and kayak.
JTM
I don't think it will be too many MDX on the road if you are not living around my area. :D :D :D

I could see at least 10 to 20 MDXs around my area everyday. And a lot of time, I could see at least one around mine while I am waiting for the green light. :D :D

So too many? come over my area. :D :) :p

I'm seeing a hell of a lot more here. On the belt parkway over the weekend I saw alot. More recently in Nassau county I've seen at least 6 on the road. Msrp and below is becoming much more popular, and the fear of the pilot is comming to life!!!!
Ken Scott
I see a lot of MDX's in the Indianapolis area. In fact, my nextdoor neighbor has just purchased one!! Oh well, just confirms what a good choice we all made. Just took some people longer to realize what they were missing!;)
MDXLuvr
not much of a problem for me. Then again, I live in Bubbaland. I probably see more duallies, suburbans, expeditions, and their equivalent trucks then rest of u all put together! :( :p

You can't throw away a weeping mirror in the San Francisco Bay Area without hitting another MDX. Most likely a silver one!

Still very rare in Maine. I've only seen four other than my own in the last 15 months. All sightings were either GG or SS and all with out-of -state plates.

Now that DMP has been discontinued I'm assured of even more uniqueness. I'm lucky to see one Acura anything each month.

ACCMDX - I understand that the NAV does not have coverage in Maine. Is this true? If so, any rumours on coverage on the next DVD release? I am planning a couple of trips to your state this summer. Thanks.

P.S. Plenty of MDXs in the Boston area. I see 3-4 a day, including a Havasu yesterday.

Contact acura directly they have a number listed in the navagation book given to you when purchased. They have the most knowledge, much more than the dealer.

Hey Jason. You should've waited for the GS430. How's your summer? Check your PM. You'll have one from me.

Yup,
My area has a plethora of MDXs also. The other day, I saw two others at one intersection...

I wonder if they are happy to see me too?
accmdx
MDX88,

Coverage on the NAV is virtually nonexistant in Maine. You can view towns, but trying to get the shortest route is out of the question for most of the state at this time.

From what I was lead to believe last year, the new fall edition is to have detailed coverage for the entire country. Unfortunately, this will be too late for your trips to Maine. Invest in some maps. Not the reason we invested in the NAV.

I only get to use it when I travel down to Mass.

We live in Sugar Land, just outside Houston. So far I have counted seventeen MDXs in our suburb.
You don't need to feel unique in your MDX, just justified that you bought the best out there. :2:

'02 Silver, Touring, Trailer Hitch used often to tow Wave Runners successfully!
DFDesigns
I saw *EIGHT* today in the space of twenty-two minutes!

Two Black (one Touring, one Base)
One White
One Granite Green
One Red Rock
One Beige
One Mahoghany
One Silver

I've still yet to see a Havasu Blue in the "real world", but just about every other color seems to be residing in the Poway/Rancho Bernardo area of San Diego.

I'm still waffling on my order of Starlight Silver. Black looks mighty fine all Zainoed up, and I have an arsenal of it just waiting in the garage. Color wouldn't even be an issue for me if Acura had just kept GG around a wee bit longer.... ugh!!! :3:

I park next to one (the same one) every day - but that's the reason I got mine - MDX-envy!
Lrpba300
I've seen so many in the last 2 months, I quite counting. Haven't seen any Mahagony, RR pearl, Hav. B, yet! I'm sure I'll see some of those also:rolleyes:
dmcconaghie
I've only seen three around the Nashville, TN area, though I'm sure that number is rising, based on our salesperson's comments when we went to pick ours up. They had it in their 'closed' display area and he said there had been several inquiries about it before we arrived.

Then again, the folks here are usually a little slower to catch on sometimes. :D

Must be the time of day; I drive to Sugar Land Mon - Fri and rarely see one. Although I see a MB fairly often while I'm gassing up at the "downtown" Shell station.

UPDATE:
South San Jose.

Silver dominates. 2 or 3 Black and 1 Mesa Bg., possibly 2 Mahogany, one with gold emblems, one other GG besides mine.
I see at least a couple every week.
Harry
I average about 250 miles a week and I have yet to see another X on the road up in my neck of america. Every where I stop My X turns heads. You would think I just landed in a space ship. If you feel like your X is just another X, you need to personalize it. Start with some wheels and tires. Theres nothing that improves our appearance like a nice pair of new shows:27:

I just (3:05 PM CST) looked out my Sugar Land office overlooking Hwy 90A and spotted a Red one - first one I have seen in public.

They do exist:4:

I Just noticed your post.
Where did you buy your MDX, So. Hampton? Thats where I bought mine and the salesmen said there was four others sold to Mainers. Maybe we will pass on 95.
So there is more than one MDX in Maine. :4:

Today I only saw one other one - a RR just like mine was in front of me at a stop light. After passing it I never saw it or another one again - not even the one I always park next to.

MDXs in Sugar Land are almost exclusively driven by women and are best seen on streets south of Highway 6. A few are 2001 but most are 2002, predominantly Silver. I collect licence plates so know they're from here.

2002 Silver Touring. Owner very fit from walking from the far end of carparks to avoid scratches and dings. Family threatening to give me a pair of parking cones to protect my precious MDX.
MrPrescott
OK, so we all admit that we're seeing more. Even here in KY I'm seeing one or some daily, whereas I only saw one a week last year.

I was at an upscale resort in NC last weekend and saw 5 in the parking lot! Mahogany, Silver, Gold, and Black, plus mine. And, I saw a blue on the road nearby.

So, not so unique any more. But, we still have a more exclusive than Highlanders, RXs, MLs.:4:

Dude, that was probably me that you saw. I live near the medical center but frequent Sugarland regularly.

BTW in the med center area, I see about 2 per day when I go to work. Houston has a bunch of MDXs. I guess we are just a wayy cool city :2:

When will you be by again??:21:
Hey-Jude
Is there an easily distinguishable feature to tell the difference ?

Just curious... I thought they looked identical.... with maybe the exception of the side mirrors ... which I wouldn't be able to distinguish if seeing one drive by on the road.
DaleB
If they have a rack, the front bar on the 2001 is right over the back of the moonroof.
On 2002, front bar is moved back noticeably further behind the moonroof.

Nice black one v. clean, headed east on Yerba Buena.
Rear lic. plate "I'LL TAKE A LATTE".
Base car, no rack, not sure if 01 or 02.
Any takers? Lady driving, happy I'm sure.
manus1980
The 2001 does not have the baby seat tethers and extra thick/heavy windshield. I think the 2001 weighs less too thus ever so slightly bit faster. Tehe

Thanks for the tip. Now when I do get to see another X on the road I may be able to date it.

Yes ! The mirror shape is another dead giveaway! Unless a 2001 had 2002 installed to fix a problem (rare fix).

Picked up my MDX on Friday and after leaving the dealer did not see one MDX in the 250 mile trip home on I-5 South from Portland. It is possible I missed them if they were there, spent some (maybe more than some) time trying out the Nav system and trip computer and stereo. I know, you are not supposeded to do serious operation with the nav while driving but I could not resist (I was alone on trip back). At least I did not talk on cell phone while trying out the new toys...

I went to a tennis tournament in Woodside, CA and I saw 4 MDX on the lot, Havasu Blue, 2 Beige, GG and mine. What happen to the BMWs and Mercedes Benz?
DaleB
Less pollution in Woodside, they think more clearly!
paul123
I've been seeing alot more in Nassau County!!!

Last sunday we saw an MDX being towed in Carson City,NV behind a motorhome (looked like about a$500,000 motor coach).

The black MDX seemed to be happy in this configuration....and I gotta say it was a surprise to us.
